SCBS Riding Lessons

Hello my name is Amanda and I own Shady Creek Boarding Stable. We specialize in the instruction of the fine riders in CR. Here you have the option of bringing in one of your own horses to work with or taking advantage of one of our lovely lesson horses (You can see the lesson horses below!) To gain experience for you while your horses is lame or being trained you can take one of the lesson horses to a show for a small fee.

Jumping successfully is a matter of balance and confidence, you and your pony will improve with practice. At your first jumping lesson you will most likely start with your instructor spacing four or five poles evenly and the correct distance apart, according by the size of the pony trotting over them. Just make sure that you keep your head up, back straight and look ahead. By you and your pony trotting poles it will help you get your balance, and is a very good exercise for you pony too.

The Stages of Jumping

Jumping is divided into four stages- the approach, the tack off, in midair, and the landing. When you first learn to jump it will be on an experienced pony who will be quit good at judging these things himself, but you must tell keep him moving forwards. Once you have take off, slid your hands forward to give your pony more rein. When you are in midair, keep the lower part of your legs stratight under your body. Look ahead between the pony's ears to see were you are going. Before you land give the pony as much rein as he or she may need to straight it's neck by straightening our arms.
