I'll begin with the basics. To get stronger and stay healthy, you need a balanced diet. You need to drink plenty of water and get all of the recomended amount of vitamins and minerals(if you are trying to gain muscle mass you may need to consume more, but always read the labels of multivitamins and don't over do it!). You will also need plenty of carbohydrates for energy, proteins to repair your tissues, and fats to give you energy for endurance and to keep your brain and bodily functions regular. Nutritional supplements help to give your body the right stuff to keep going strong and improve results. Remember, always read the labels of nutritional supplements and follow the directions.

In addition to eating right and consuming the right amount of essentials, you must be dedicated. Don't make a workout plan that you cannot live up to. Move in slowly and you will begin seeing results. There is a such thing as overtraining(which actually decreases muscle size and strength)so don't exceed your limit. That does not mean that you should not train hard, it just means listen to your body and don't try to do what you know you cannot handle. You should feel sore and fatiqued(stetching, plenty of rest, and drinking extra water helps to reduce soreness) after workouts, but you should not be in pain. If you start experiencing pain, stop the lift or exercise that causes it for a while. If pain persists, get professional help.

Getting physically fit and stronger increases your confidence, increases your metabolism so you burn more calories, and increases endorphin production in the brain(endorphins are biological chemicals in your body that make you feel good).
