Sorrows gather around great souls as storms do around mountains; but, like them, they break the storm and purify the air of the plain beneath them.
Jean Paul Richter

Thunder Lightning and Rain

My heart beats like thunder
when I hear your name.
Your kiss felt like lightning
and I can't stand the pain.
Of lightening,
of thunder,
of tears,
falling like rain.

I watched you as you
packed your things
and walked right out the door.
You said that you were sorry
but you could'nt take anymore,
and watching you walk down the road
the thunder called your name,
and lightening rippled through the skies,
and my tears,
they fell like the rain.

And sometimes when
a storm blows in
I listen to the skies.
The thunder calls
your name again,
bitter memories
flash by.
Like lightning,
like thunder,
and my tears,
fall with the rain.

Now I could say I'm sorry
and beg you to forgive.
But we both know
you had to go,
you have a life to live.
Without the thunder,
without the lightning,
and tears falling like rain.

And now the storm has lifted,
and sunshine fills the skies.
The thunder in the distance,
calls to me your goodbye.
And lightning flashes thoughts of you,
sparking through my mind.
And the rain washed away the tears,
that you left behind.
