Day 1 : Start of holiday. Flight from East Midlands airport to Prague airport. Met by Lucie Podhorova our host who took us by car to Chalupa pod Nosem, Hejnice, Czech Republic.
Day 2 : Met Colin, Lorna, Steve & Nicky from Yorkshire at breakfast. Walked into Hejnice and back. Had lunch in garden of cottage and then walked to 'Cerny Potok Vodapad'. Continued walk to 'Hajny Kostel' a viewpoint on top of a rocky prominence accessed by steps cut into the rock and ladders attached to the rock. Returned to cottage and had evening meal in the garden provided by our hosts with sausages ccoked on an open fire
Day 3 : Walked into village. Had lunch back at cottage.In afternoon walked to summit of Oresnik via Ferdinandov and Stolpichu waterfalls. Descended on Hejnice path, returning to cottage by walking across fields.
Day 4 : Took early train from Hejnice to Frydlant changing at Raspenava. Spent day exploring Frydlant.
Day 5 : Rest day. Relaxed in garden. Walked to restaurant 'Obri Sud' in hills overlooking Lazne Libverda for evening meal.
Day 6 : Walked to Smedava via Ferdinandov, Hrebinek, Nova Louka, Blatna and Kristianov. Visited craft fair and glass museum in Kristianov before continuing walk along the E3 to Smedava where we were taken by car back to the cottage.
Day 7 : Another rest day. Spent day relaxing in and around the cottage.
Day 8 : Had lazy morning. After lunch walked to Frydlantske Cimburi where we climbed to the summit cross and then continued walking to Poledni Kameni. Returned to cottage by retracing our steps.
Day 9 : Took early train from Hejnice to Liberec changing at Raspenava. Spent day exploring Liberec and taking cable car to summit of Jested.
Day 10 : Another rest day. Spent day in and around cottage. Did some exploring of Hejnice.
Day 11 : Taken by car to Smedava. Walked to summit of Smrk via Predel and Na piscinach. Retraced steps from summit to Na piscinach and then climbed to summit of Palicnik and climbed to the summit cross. Descended to Bily Potok and then walked back to cottage via Bartlova Bouda where we stopped for refreshments
Day 12 : Rest day. Did some shopping in village then chilled out in garden of cottage.
Day 13 : A choice of activities in the morning. A walk; "the 33rd annual wandering along the track of the Iron Crown" or relax in the garden.
Day 14 : Taken by car to Smedava. Walked to Jizerka following the Jizerka stream, stopping at Chata Pesakovna for refreshments. Visted the museum in Jizerka and looked at other interesting buildings before returning to Smedava via the Cerni Vrch ridge. Caught bus back to Hejnice.
Day 15 : Awoke to rain & mist; our first wet day. Spent morning in cottage. After lunch went shopping in village and then spent rest of afternoon and evening in the cottage
Day 16 : Took train from Hejnice to Jablonec nad Nisou changing at Raspenava and Liberec. Spent day exploring Jablonec, visiting The museum of Glass and Costume Jewellery.
Day 17 : Our last day in Czech Republic. Packed bags and then taken by car to Prague. Left luggage at airport and then went by car to Prague Castle where we said goodbye to Lucie. Spent rest of day exploring Prague. Visiting the castle area, the Little Quarter and Charles' Bridge, the Old Town and the Jewish Quarter, the Old Town Square, and Wenceslas Square. Took metro and bus back to airport for flight home.
