In January 1992 the population of Pakistan was estimated 120 million, of whom 70 percent were in the rural areas. During the
past fifteen years population grew at a rate of 3.2 percent per year on the average, while the resident population grew at a
lesser rate, i.e., 3.06 percent per year.
