Week of War

Week of Wars occur once every month. As the name suggests, they are one week long. Durining this time you will be required to fly five matches. Given that we only really want to have active members in our squadron, we don't want people who are just a name on a list. Wars last just over six and a half days, which means you will have to on average, put in 7-8 minutes a day into our squadron. Consistency is rewarded, pleasant surprises are rewarded. If you for some reason can not fly your matches, you will be excused if you tell us why and your reason is a good one. Almost all reasons are legitimate, in Silver it is very strongly enforced that real life is more important than anything the internet has to offer, thus it takes priority. If you have anything in reality that is prevnting your flight, then be our guest to ditch the war for it, just please tell us.

Combat Rules

You must go to the Melee Skirimishes room for XWA and host/join a game that is called 'WoW ____'. You may leave it at just 'WoW' but you may also want to specify which craft you would like to fly if you are the host. You may also want to specify the type of combat (two on two, one on one, etc)

Once you are in the actual game you are to fly a ten minute melee skirmish with the agreed upon, or forementioned setttings.

If you are flying a one on one game, they are done in a 5/5 style. That means that one person will host for five minutes, they will take note of the scores, then they will switch who is hosting, ad fly the final five minutes. Why? Because the host has a horrific disadvantage in one on ones due to excessive lag. Note: The host is only at a disadvantage in one vs one. In three and four player combat it is fairly even, and after that the host has the advantage over the other players, in terms of lag.

Which games to join, and passwords

The password for these events is generally pre-designated. It is usually "wow" for Weeks of War. This applies to all Week of War rooms, not just one or two, not just the ones in XWA, but ALL of them. Which games should you join? That is your choice, if you suck in Firespray's, and someone is hosting a Firespray game, then you probably shouldn't join that game. If the lag to the host is not in the green then you probably shouldn't join either, XWA has some signifficant lag problems, and you generally want to minimize them.

After the Game

During Weeks of War, we need to report the games to the Battle Stats database. Generally the loser takes care of that but sometimes other people will volunteer to handle it. As a way of being a good sport and also to make sure no one screws around with the report, I recomend you always volunteer to report the game. To do this take a screen shot of everyone's score. You can take screen shots by pressing Alt and the O key simultaneously, or you can just hit the printscreen button. You should then save this screen shot and report the game at the appropriate battlestats page. The reporting process is fairly simple, so I will not go into detail with that. It is a good idea to save all your screenshots until the war is over, just in case somebody cheats, or disputes a match of yours.
