Group Committee is the support team for the local Scouting program. Group Committee comprises parents and leaders working together to ensure that the section programmes operate for maximum benefit to our youth members and support for our leaders.
Officers of the Committee currently include a Chairman and Treasurer. All key leaders are automatically members: other leaders participate according to their interests. Parents are welcome (and encouraged) to attend Group Committee meetings and assume the support functions required.
Group Committee is responsible for:
· Registering youths and leaders in the program
· Co-ordinating fundraising and other group activities
· Overseeing finances
· Communicating with parents
· Maintaining a liaison with Scouts Canada through the Area Council
· Ensuring a high level of leadership through the prescribed screening process, training programs and the provision of adequate resources.
To this end, regular committee meetings review section activities and approve planning for both short- and long-term periods. The emphasis for the current year is on activities which benefit the community; demonstrating the continuity of the Scouting experience by organizing activities which allow the sections to interact; and reaching out to other Scout Groups in the region to share our strengths and expand our horizons.
Group Committee meets monthly, generally on the first Monday of the month. Parents with any questions, comments, suggestions, or (especially) offers to help are welcome to contact me through this website, by direct email at cbirss@connection.com, or by phone at 416-763-4084.
