ABS-CBN Anime Highlights

Let me present to you the ABS-CBN animes!

CCS is not the first CLAMP anime to reach Philippine shores courtesy of ABS-CBN.Magic Knight Rayearth,a story of 3 girls brought to a new world to save it from destruction, premiered sometime in 1996.It was placed on a Sundat timeslot at 10 am.MKR was re-run again years later at a 3:30 pm weekdays sked, after which it was brought to the GMA yard in a weekdays 4:30 pm sked.ABS-CBN ran the MKR OVA on Oct. 8,2001 on the same timeslot for two weeks,so there was a time when all you see on screen were 6 hot babes that have striking resemblance with each other, only they call each other differently.

ABS-CBN chose to tagalize the opening theme while GMA showed the original Japanese opening and ending theme.

Samurai X(RuRouni Kenshin) was first sighted by the writer on October 1998 in Studio 23.It was shown every Sunday at 7 pm in English. After almost a year(the series was already in the start of the Shishio plot),it was taken off the air, only to surface on a weekdays afternoon sked of ABS-CBN.The series was tagalized, and the theme was shown in excerpt.SX halted showing sometime in the Soujiro-Kenshin battle, but it was continued after a while.I'm not sure when it was taken off the air.

The main plot set in the start of the Meiji Era is about a once-slasher now an atoning wandered named Kenshin Himura who begins his life anew with his newfound family in the Kamiya Dojo, but his past as Battousai the Slasher is still like a ghost following him.The twists and turns the story takes following his road to repentance is one of the most interesting points in this anime for me.

Tenchi Muyo was shown on a 4:30 pm sked weekdays, but I'm not sure when it actually began.(My best guess is 1998 or 1999)It is the story of a teenage boy named Tenchi whose life took a twist when he met a space pirate,a princess and other unique characters from the outer galaxy.
