Chapter 2
But after days of negotiation, Eriol was able to make her agree.
She laid down some rules though.
"Yes touch, no kiss." she said sternly.
"Too bad." he commented in a sing-song voice.
She rolled her eyes before continuing."No.2.no public
display of affection."
"But how would Kaho-never mind." Eriol has not told
Tomoyo yet the reason behind their little make-believe.
"Lastly, no meddling with each other's affairs,
understood?"
"Aye aye!" saluted Eriol. "Now with your dating
constitution laid out, maybe I can now formally call you my
girl."
She nodded reluctantly. "But Eriol, why can't you tell me
the reason for doing this?"
He winked. "Uh-uh! No meddling with other's affairs!"
Sunday morning...
"She's good." was all Eriol could say as he listened
breathlessly to Tomoyo and the choir's performance in the early
morning mass.
"She is, isn't she?" a woman sat beside him.
"K-Kaho?!" yelped Eriol, his sudden shout disrupting the
mass. Tomoyo's curious eyes watched him along with everyone
else's. "What's with Mr. Personality? "she wondered.
"Kaho, I want you to meet my girlfriend, Tomoyo. You do
remember her, don't you?" introduced Eriol.
The woman smiled. "Of course I do. She is Tomoyo Daidouji,
the best singer not only in class but in the entire school."
She held out a perfectly manicured hand to her. "I'm pleased
to meet the queen of Eriol's heart."
An embarrassed Tomoyo accepted it. "N-Not exactly a
queen--"she began.
"More like a tyrant!" Eriol wrapped an arm around her
affectionately all of a sudden, making her almost jump.
"Tomoyo has a charmingly unique way of making me do things
her way, but I'm not complaining!"
The ruby-haired woman laughed. "Well,it's been nice talking
to you but David is already waiting for me."
"David?" Puzzlement was in Tomoyo's voice.
"My fiancé."
"So that's it!!" Tomoyo was so furious that Eriol's
afraid she might actually explode.
"Calm down, Tomoyo."he advised.
"Calm down? Calm down?!" Her blazing purple eyes shot
daggers at him. If looks could kill, he might be lying on the
ground lifelessly now. "You used me to make her
jealous!"
Eriol tried to put it the other way. "N-No,I was just
..using your presence to help my ex realize her absurdity for
dumping me."
Tomoyo slammed her hands on his study desk, rattling the framed
picture of Kaho placed on it. "But the fact remains that you
used me, you user! Using me as a pawn to your useless childish
games.." she threw her hand up in exasperation. "Oh
God, what' the use talking to a lovesick idiot!" She took
her shoulder bag. "I am so out of here!"
Eriol, a little dazed by the girl's speech, snapped out of his
trance just in time to stop her from going out of his room.
"Don't touch that door knob, dearest, or you'll be
sorry."
"Oh yeah?" Her eyes were undaunted. "And what will
you do when I defy your orders?"
He smiled sweetly. "I will dismantle all your precious
Sakura battle tapes."
Her eyes widened. "You wouldn't!" But she knew he was
capable of doing that. After all, he used to be the all-powerful
Clow Reed. Wrecking tapes will take only a flick of his pinkie
finger.
He smiled slyly. "Don't try my patience, Tomoyo."
She settled back to bed. "Fine." "If you only used
your magic to make Kaho fall for you again in the first place,
you don't have to blackmail other innocent souls to get her
back."
Eriol fought the urge to join her in bed. Instead he said,
"Even my strongest spell is nothing against the true power
of love."
One of her eyebrows shot up. "How philosophic. a far cry
from the rude and blackmailing you awhile ago."
"Am I?" he drawled huskily, sending electricity up and
down her spine.
She stood up, face flaming. "I-I'm goping home."
Eriol seemed to realize what he just did. "Uh.. can I walk
you home?"
"In your dreams!" she snapped.
"The sweetest, no doubt."
She stuck a tongue out at him, making the latter laugh. When she
asked what was so funny, he replied, "Words can't express
how adorable you are."
She relaxed. Eriol's back to his usual bothersome self.
"Likewise."
He gave her a tentative smile. "But I'll see you tomorrow,
right?"
She paused. If she says yes, she might as well have agreed to
continue their little act. On the other hand, if she says no,
she'll miss seeing the action on Eriol's love life firsthand.
"Absolutely." she replied
