Eastern Woodland Metis Nation Nova Scotia
Sign Treaty With
Ontario Metis Allegiance Port McNicoll

Are you interested in finding your Native roots? The Eastern Woodland Metis Nation Nova Scotia is welcoming ALL Metis / Aboriginal and off reserve members to join our fast growing Family.

History was made on Sunday August 11, 2002 in Yarmouth NS at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Collins St., when a delegation of three (consisting of President Don Cadeau of Ontario Metis Allegiance Port McNicoll, with two Metis associates, Andre Belanger and Anna Marie Madahbee) came to Yarmouth to meet with Chief Speaker Mary Lou Parker, Grand Chief Tim Parker and our community of Metis known as the Eastern Woodland Metis Nation Nova Scotia.

The purpose for this mission was the signing of the FIRST Interprovincial Treaty in Canada.

Present to witness and sign the Treaty was the MLA from Shelburne, Mr. Cecil O’Donnell.

This lends credibility to the EWMNNS and OMAP within this province. The EWMNNS is the only Metis organization within this province to be recognized by OMAP as the Provincial Council for the Atlantic Provinces.

We shall negotiate for the betterment of ALL our Peoples. As it was stated, ‘We shall sleep for a hundred years and a Nation of Metis shall rise again. We do not ask for more, but we will not settle for less. We shall overcome because we too have the dream. Long live the Metis.’
