To Attempt Grading to 1st Dan a student will be checked over a period of Two Years before the actual grading to see if the following criteria has been fulfilled.
1. Attended a minimum Six out of the Last Eight WKA Courses
2. Attended a minimum Four out of the Last Six Referee Courses.
3. Must hold a Judge/Arbiter Certificate (Practical)
4. Must hold Assistant Instructor Certificate
5. Minimum of 12 months between 1st Kyu and 1st Dan Grading.
6. Private Lessons (optional, but advised)

5. Attended a minimum Six Referee (refresher) Courses out of the Last Eight
6. Be a Qualified Referee
