Wayne is one of three brothers. His other brothers were
called Graham and John. They all went to Everton Youth Academy, but Wayne
was the first to wow the Merseyside scouts. Wayne used to rush home from school on his BMX to practise his skills. He is rumoured to still eat sausage and beans every night! Wayne's first trial was with Liverpool, but they turned him away! Everton scout Bob Pendleton secretly went to see Wayne play. One match was enough, and he soon joined Everton academy.
