Rain Forests
Welcome to Paradise!

Paradise, what do you think of when you here the word Paradise, you might think of a hot holiday get away, but in actual fact we are very lucky to have one of the worlds true paradises, rain forests. I am a grade nine student in Bishop Whelan. This year in Geography we have been given certain Geohazards to follow throughout the year, my topic being Rain forests. In the following paragraphs you will learn info about my project and what I plan to do over the year. I am focusing my studies on Amazon Rain forest, as it is the biggest rain forest, it covers 3.5% of all the earth’s forest, covering a 3rd of South Americas surface area. I hope to be able to tell you of any recent happenings in the Amazon, or any other rain forest. I will be using the Internet a lot. I have succeeded in contacting Greenpeace in my search of information, and they have said they will send me information soon, which you will be able to access as soon as it comes! I am also using book, and Encyclopaedia references. Also any news papers or magazines, such as National Geographic, or the Gazette. During the year we are planning to have an open-house where I would like to present a terrarium, one side of plants which are subjected to poisons, that would simulate pollution, the other side not being subjected to anything, but being kept healthy, so you can see the difference and understand what we are really doing to the worlds paradise. I hope you will benefit greatly from this page and all the information I hope to provide! I hope you check back soon. C-ya then!!
