Chapter Six...Conversation

Taylor and Kelsey had no idea their best friends were falling in love at that moment, and were enjoying talking to each other. Taylor was simply amazed at the girl that was sitting across from him. He honestly couldn’t believe she was there. He could swear he’d wake up in a few minutes and she would never exist. She just seemed...too perfect. She had read every single book he had and more. She was extremely intelligent, funny, and kind. He could tell just by looking at her she always thought of other people’s needs before her own.

Kelsey couldn’t believe she was talking to Taylor and was comfortable! She had never felt this way before with anyone. She somehow could tell him anything without worrying about what he thought of her. She began to wonder if this was love. She looked at him. It was the same image on the thousands of pictures she had of him. But something was different. There was something the pictures couldn’t quite capture. His personality was what made her notice him. He was so sweet, so kind, and so sincere, and she was so in love with him it frightened her.

Taylor noticed Kelsey was staring at her. “Why are you doing that?” he asked. Kelsey’s eyes moved, something they hadn’t done for the last minute. She had come out of the trance. “No reason, it’s nothing,” she said quietly. Taylor looked at her. He saw her lips go into an uneasy pout. He couldn’t stand it when she did that. It only made him want to kiss her more than he already did. He kept trying to tell himself that he was being absolutely crazy, that she was too young, etc. but it never worked. He just wanted to hold her and touch her lips so badly it hurt.

“Please don’t do that,” he whispered under his breath. “What?” she asked. He blushed, wishing he had never said that out loud, ”It’s nothing.” She smiled at him, “Well, nothing wouldn’t make you blush.” He became even redder. “Listen, if you don’t want to tell me, don’t,” Kelsey told him softly. Taylor looked at her. He thought, “That’s the problem, Kelsey. I want to tell you so badly but I can’t.”

Kelsey raised her eyes and looked straight into his. They remained transfixed that way for almost five minutes. All of a sudden both of them felt a need to be the other’s. What passed between them in those five minutes, neither one ever knew. All they knew was that they loved each other and needed to be together. The only thing they didn’t know was that the other one felt the same way.

Kelsey shyly looked down. What she had just felt scared her. She had felt an intimacy with Taylor, someone she didn’t even know yesterday. That was so new, she didn’t know what to feel. All she felt was her deep love for Taylor. She could feel his gaze on her, and surprisingly she wasn’t uncomfortable.

Taylor couldn’t believe what had just happened. Her eyes...they were such a beautiful deep brown and they displayed all of her emotions. Taylor just wasn’t quite sure what her eyes had just told him. Did she love him? Did she even care about him? Taylor didn’t know, but he wanted so badly to find out he thought he would go crazy if he didn’t. He simply had to find out. But how? He had never been very good at admitting his feelings.

There was an uneasy silence between the two. Kelsey finally raised her eyes and looked at him. They looked in each other’s eyes for only a moment when Jennifer screamed. Kelsey turned her head and ran into Zac’s room.
