A Precious Gift

By: Meagan Horbin

My thoughts clouded together as one.
The night grew deeper, and the wind, colder.
People didn`t understand, I lost so much.
I grabbed the silver point, that glinted in the night

I held it firm to my wrist,
knowing it would make my problems go away.
As the pain glided across my skin,
I looked up and saw the reflection of a little girl

Drip, Drip, splashed the blood as my life past before me
I looked deep into the two pools of green that squeezed out tears,
for I knew I made a mistake
Life was slipping

I grabbed the gauze to stop the forever river of red
Tears of pain, mixed with confusion and hope,
slid down my cheeks of red,

I squeezed the wound with hopes of life
and knew I made a mistake.
One I`d never make again

Life is valuable and has many great things
Treat it well, you`re only given one.
