You rush to his side and start crying. You notice that he’s been hooked up to a heart monitor and that is was beeping very slowly. You panic and say, "Taylor Hanson! You listen to me, you have to hold on, not just for me but your family and friends and your millions of fans! Don’t give up, you have to hang on. You have to make it! I...I...I..." you trail off crying.
Your mom shows up and you run to her crying. "Mom, how did you know I was here?" you ask. "The hospital called me and I rushed right over. You all just sit there, silently staring, crying, praying. Then, you look over at Mackie and he says, "Mommy, is Taylor dead?" "No, honey," says Mrs. Hanson. "He’s just sleeping for a while. He’s taking a nap." "Like me?" he says. "Yeah, like you," Mrs. Hanson reassures him. Hearing this, the tears start falling faster from your eyes. You had to get out of there. You went out to sit in the waiting room, then, Leann Rimes-"How Do I Live" came on, hearing these lyrics, you started sobbing even harder.
A COUPLE DAYS LATER...
You are still in the same clothes that you’d been wearing that dreadful day when you had to dive Tay to this horrible place. You wake up to find you and Tay were the only one’s in the room. You found a note saying that The Hansons had gone home and that they would be back later tonight. Just then, the doctor comes in and says, "Stacey, I don’t know how to tell you this but..." "But, what?" you snap at him. "But he’s not gonna make it." "No," you whisper. Then, you yell it, "NO!"
The doctor starts to unhook all the machines. "What are you doing?" you scream at him. "I told you he’s not gonna make it, I am unhooking all the machines." "Don’t you dare touch another one! Let him live the rest of his time left on earth. Plug them all back in NOW!!!" The doctor plugs them in and leaves.
Then, you collapse into a chair. You start talking to Tay. You start to notice that his heart monitor is beeping faster but you think it’s all your imagination. Then, you tell him, "Tay, they told me you are not going to make it. I just want to tell you to make sure you watch over me from up there. Please say hi to my grandma for me. And I want to tell you that I.. I... I love you Tay!" With that the tears start streaming down your cheeks and you climb up in Tay’s bed with him and link your fingers with his, stroke his hair with your other hand and cry. "I love you too Stacey, please don’t cry," says Tay.
"Tay!" You jump off the bed and stare at him. "Hey, I just came back from the dead, don’t I get a kiss?" "You jump up and give him a kiss that will make him want to stay there beside you forever! When, you break apart, you start crying. "Why are you crying?" asked Tay. "I am just so happy!"
Tay was facing you when, his family comes into the room and they see you crying and Diana says, "No it... we can’t be too late!" She sits down and starts sobbing. " Why are you crying mom?" asks Tay. "Tay!" she exclaims hugging him. Then her face turns dark, "Jordan Taylor Hanson, don’t you ever do anything like that to me again!!!" "Sorry mom, " says Tay. Well, I’m going to ask some questions and tell that doctor I think he needs a second opinion, MY opinion." Then, Walker announces that he’s going to take the kids to the gift shop and the cafeteria.
When you two were alone again, he says, "Stacey, I want to thank you for saving my life. If it weren’t for you I’d probably be dead from a car crash, and so would Ike and Zac. " "You are welcome Tay," you say.
Then, Diana comes back. "They said that they are going to check you over and if everything is OK, you can go home. So just sit tight, I have to go fill out a complaint card about that doctor." She leaves and you say, "Tay, I wasn’t about to tell your mom this I didn’t want to worry her but, the doctor came in and said you weren’t going to make it and started unhooking all your machines and I screamed at him and stopped him. This happened when your mom and dad went to take the kids home." "Oh, then you saved my life in more ways than one. I think that deserves a kiss." You lean over and kiss. You kiss for the longest time when your hear, "Ahem.." It was Zac. He came back to see how Tay was doing. "Sorry," you both say. Then a doctor comes in. You are relieved to see that it wasn’t the same doctor that tried to kill Tay. He asks you and Zac to leave so you go out to find Walker. He was in the gift shop buying a toy car for Mackenzie. Moments later, Diana comes out followed by a nurse wheeling Tay out in a wheelchair. You get into the van and you are sitting right next to Tay. You go home and get some sleep and the next day you invite Tay over to watch a movie. Your mom buys every movie that comes out, so you had a wide variety. Tay suggests that you see The Island of Dr. Moreau, it looked good so you put it in and get settled on the couch in the living room, just as the movie was starting, your mom comes down the stairs and says that she’s going to work and she’d be home at about 9:00 p.m.
You start watching the movie and it’s getting very boring. You start kissing and Taylor wraps his arms around you and starts kissing your neck. After a while you make him stop cuz your mom will kill you if she sees a hickey on your neck. Then, you go outside because it’s a beautiful day outside and you sit down on the swingset that you haven’t been on since, well since your parents divorced when you were 11. Tay starts pushing you on the swing and then he gets on the one next to you, you challenge him to a jumping contest. He gets really high but you get higher, you jump off and land on your knee, scraping it. It starts bleeding. Tay notices and says, "Hang on Stacey, I’ll help you." He jumps off and lands... right in the pool! You look over, trying to hold in your laughter. "Don't even start," he says. Then, you bust up laughing. He looks a little annoyed, and you go over to him, kiss him on the head and say, "Sorry." He looks up at you and pulls you into the water. You were soaked and your knee started stinging from the chlorine. You start splashing each other and then you jump out of the water, remembering that you were wearing a white T-shirt. You grab a towel from the outside cabinet, and wrap it around yourself, when you finally are semi-dry, you run into the house to change.
When you come back, you expected to see Tay drying off, but when you get a glimpse of his clothes in the pool, you jump in and grab the shirt, you pull it to the top and notice that it was a trick. Tay jumps out from the corner of the house and says, "Gotcha!" You walk right past him, grabbing another towel and sit down to dry. You start crying, you head in your hands. Tay apologizes over and over again and puts his arms around you and rocks you back and forth. You look up at him and say, "Tay, when I think how close I was to loosing you a few days ago, I realize how lucky I am to have you. Then when you pulled that stunt, I panicked. Please don’t ever do anything like that again. Do you promise me?" "I promise you Stacey, I will never do anything like that again, I will never hurt you again." This time it was Tay’s turn to cry. You comfort him. "Don’t cry Tay, it’s alright." "I am just so sorry. I’m so sorry."
That night, was Tay’s welcome home dinner. You were the guest of honor for saving Tay. It turns out, Tay told his mom about the doctor unhooking the machines. You were furious at first but then he explained that if you didn’t do anything about it, that guy could go on hurting other people. Then you weren’t mad. Dinner was great. You had a lot of fun getting to know Tay’s family since you didn’t really get to talk to them while Tay was in the hospital. Zac was a riot. He asked a waiter if he, " had any Grey Pupoun." Later, the guy brought Zac some! You got a kick out of that.
The next day was school, you were finally going back since Tay was out of the hospital. You were excited, Tay was going to have his chauffeur take you to school. All the kids were wondering who was going to get out of the limo. When you and Taylor Hanson did, everyone was in awe. Then Tay hugged you good-bye and left. During 5th period, you were called out of class to the office to get something. When you got there, there was Tay standing in the office holding a dozen red roses. He handed them to you and kissed you lightly on the cheek. Then, the bell for lunch rang and Tay led you to a spot on the grass where there was a blanket and a picnic basket laid down and a sign that said--Reserved for Stacey Daweson, the girl who saved my life. It was so beautiful. Everything was perfect. Inside the basket was: 2 tuna fish sandwiches, 2 of Mrs. Hanson’s homemade brownies, 2 diet Dr. Peppers, and a daisy that Tay put in your hair behind your ear.
Then, Tay got you out of your last 2 classes and you went everywhere. He took you to the zoo. To the fair, where he won you a huge stuffed teddy bear. You nicknamed it "Tay-bear." You had the best day of your life that day and you were sad to see it end. When he dropped you off, you kissed him sweetly and his lips and said, "Good-night, I love you." "I love you too Stace."
Tay, Ike and Zac had to go to California for a few days to do concerts, TV shows, and photo shoots. They were gonna be gone a week but Tay called you every chance he got. You missed him like crazy but knew he’d be back. You watched and taped every show he was on. One time you got to fly out there for a concert. It was great. You went to a L.A. Dodgers game and Tay was sitting in the lucky seat and he had to go out on the field, spin around and hit the base ball. He was playing against the team Mascot. Tay won of course, it’s the rules. The audience member always wins. It was fun to watch though.
Then, you had to go back home, you had missed enough school already and were behind on your school work. You couldn’t wait for the day after tomorrow because Tay would be back.
THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW
Tay picked you up after school and took you to "Smile!" It was a photography place and he had bought you the most beautiful dress to wear, you changed and when you came back, Tay was in a black tux. They called for his name and you guys were posed and they made you hold a rose and Tay put his arms around your waist. The proofs were the best you’d ever seen! You couldn’t wait to get the real pictures back.
Then, Tay blindfolds you and starts driving. When you ask him where you are going, he says, "It’s a secret." Then finally he turns the car off and takes the blindfold off of you and you see that you are sitting in front of the most expensive restaurant this side of the Mississippi. "Oh my gosh, Tay, Chez Pierre?" "Only the best for my girl," he says.
You go in and he gives the receptionist his name. They show you to a table for two by the window, looking over the city of Tulsa. It was breathtaking. They give you menus and you notice the prices! Just a Dr. Pepper is close to 10 dollars! You don’t want to cost him too much money so you order a chicken salad and an iced tea-unsweetened. Tay orders a steak and a Dr. Pepper. You eat the food which is too good to be true. The, Tay gets up and sings "I Will Come to You" in front of everyone. You are overwhelmed with joy. You start to wonder why Tay is doing this. Then it dawns on you, it’s the 1 week anniversary of when you first met! You didn’t even get him a gift! You keep calling yourself stupid in your head. By the end of Tay’s performance, you have tears in your eyes. Then, he pulls out a black box. Inside is his pager, this is the sweetest gift. "Now I can tell you I love you wherever you are," he says. You take the pager out and notice that there’s a ring inside. It’s a simple gold ring with a diamond in the middle, you look at the inside and it reads : To Stacey, my reason for living, Taylor." You start to cry. Then, Tay jokes, "Don’t cry, you’ll put out the candle!" You laugh and put on the ring.
You tell Tay that you don’t have his gift with you. "It’s at home," you say. "I wanted to give it to you but you kidnapped me and brought me here." "It’s OK," he says. You tell him that you will give it to him tomorrow after school. He says OK. Then, the check comes. Tay pays it and drives you home.
You tell him, "I want to really thank you for this night," you say. "Hey, you’re welcome," he says. "No, I want to really really thank you," you say, then you kiss him with all the love you have for him. When you break apart, he says, "If you ever want to thank me for anything again, just tell me! Can you think of anything else you want to thank me for?" You laugh and close the door to his Ferrari.
The next day, you don’t have school but Tay thinks you do, this is perfect, you can go shopping for him. You look and look, you cant think of anything that would be perfect for him. The, you see it--the stand sitting under a sign that says, "Put your name on a grain of rice." You run over to it and you get two pendants with both you names in each one. Then, you buy a dozen roses from the florist and rush home. You happen to know for a fact that Tay and his family won’t be home for another hour. They have a family reunion to go to. You have Tay’s window key, and you open it and climb in. You start tearing off rose petals and scatter them all over the front yard. Then, you make a trail of them leading into his room and up to the bed. You wrap put his gift into the bag you bought. The, you see Tay’s car out of the corner of your eye and you laid down on the bed. You see he noticed the petals and he is following them into the window and he sees you laying on the bed. His face breaks into a smile and he rushes over and kisses you. You hand him the bag and he opens it and takes out the pendant. "This is the best present I have ever gotten," he tells you. Then you pull out yours from underneath your shirt. He smiles again. He asks you if you want to go to the mall, his dad’s birthday is coming up and he needs to buy a present. You load into the car and drive to the mall. You were walking by a police officer talking to a shoplifter and he was making the stupidest excuses to get out of trouble. You walked off laughing and stopped in front of the huge fountain in the middle of the mall. Tay took your chin in his hands and kissed you. While you were kissing you heard a familiar voice yell, "Stacey!!! Hey babe over here." Startled, You look toward the direction of the voice and you just about faint! "Steven!" He runs over and hugs you. "Aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend Stacey?" asked Tay. "What friend?" you ask. "Don’t be silly Stacey. Hi I’m Steven, Stacey’s boyfriend." "Boyfriend," said Tay stunned. "No you are not my boyfriend! Steven I told you it was over between us! You are too jealous and you tried to control my life. Taylor is my boyfriend now and I love him with all my heart." You put your arm around Tay. "And why are you here? I thought you moved to Arizona." "I am here visiting my grandma. Well I ‘m going now bye!"
You and Tay are driving home. "Sorry about back there. Steven never got over me I guess. He was so messed up after our breakup that when his family moved to Arizona and he was given the option to stay here with his grandma, he moved. I hate him so much. According to him, we are still together. You will probably find this out sooner or later so here goes, he was abusive," you lifted up the back of your shirt and Tay said, "Oh my GOD did he do that to you? I’ll kill him!" "He pushed me onto his coffee table and I hit it hard. Don’t kill him, don’t even go near him. He was the captain of the wrestling team. He could take practically anyone." "But I can’t believe he did that to you, so were unable to fight back to that kind of strength."
A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER
You wake up excited to start the weekend and you get in the shower and get dressed. Then you get a phone call, "Say bye to your sweet boyfriend, he may never be able to speak again," came the voice over the phone. You are freaked out by this. You call Tay’s cell phone just to make sure he’s OK and he answers. "Thank GOD you are OK," you say. Tay sounded as if he was struggling but you didn’t pay any attention to it. He tells you he’s busy and he will call you back later. You are relaxed and you continue to get ready for the day.
THE NEXT DAY
You get a phone call from Diana and she sounded as if she’d been crying. She said, "Tay’s in the hospital again, come quick."
