Baltimore Mens Fastball Classic - Baltimore, Ontario - June 20th and 21st

Saturday June 20 - Rutherflo 0 - Toronto Sammy's 6 - Toronto started it all off in the 1st inning when Pat Brennan hit a 2 run homerun off Bryon Baraieski. Two innings later in the 3rd Mike Strong hit a 2 run homerun for Toronto. Again two innings later in the 5th Tim Tompson doubled in 2 more runs which brought in Jeff Murphy to pitch for Rutherflo.

Saturday June 20 - Rutherflo 4 - Ottawa Storm 3 - Dave Waldie led off the game with a double but nothing resulted from that. In the bottom on the first Ottawa scored 2 runs. Rutherflo got onto to the board in the 2nd inning . It all started with Chris Burkholder and Evan Loucks getting back to back walks. Then Pat Rutherford got an infield hit to load the bases for John Garland, John hit a double which scored 2 runs to tie the score a 2-2. Ottawa got another run in the 4th inning to take the lead. But in the 6th inning Tommy Jopling got a walk and moved over to second on a Burholder ground out. Then Randy Fife drove Tom in with a single to tie the score again. Rutherflo wins it in the 7th inning , it all started with Dave Waldie getting a single, then Ron Herriot also hits a single which moves Waldie to second. Craig Minifie with Rutherflo's third single of the inning, drives in Waldie from second.

Sunday June 21 - Rutherflo 10 - Elora Kings 4 (9 innings) - Rutherflo opened the scoring in the top of the 1st inning. Dave Waldie #7 led off with a walk with help with two illegal pitches by the Elora pitcher. With another illegal pitch Waldie goes to second. Then a pass ball by the Elora pitcher allows Waldie to move to third base. Craig Minifie eventually drives in Waldie with an infield hit. But in the bottom of the 1st, Elora gets 3 runs to make the score 3-1 for Elora after the first. After going through the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th innings with almost no offense at all, Rutherflo finally got it together in the 6th inning after a brief team meeting led by the Captain Steve Connelly. Dave Waldie gets on base again on an error by Elora. Craig Minifie hammered a 2 run homerun to left field scoring Waldie and himself. In the 8th inning with Pat Rutherford on second (automatic runner in extra innings on 2nd base), Randy Fife bunts Pat over to third. Ronny Herriot then comes up and singles home Pat Rutherford. But in the bottom on the 8th Elora gets a run. Rutherflo finially got to the Elora pitcher in the top of the 9th inning with 6 runs. Chris Burholder bunted to led off the inning but the pitcher decided to try and get the guy at third but was late with the throw. Then Evan Loucks gets a single to load the bases for Tom Jopling who hit a single which scored two runs. Then Bill Shannon got an infield hit which loaded the bases again, originally Evan Loucks got called out going to third by the base ump, but no tag was made and an appeal to the home plate umpire reversed the decision to safe. Next up, Dave Waldie gets an infield hit up the middle, the second baseman decided to try to get the runner at home but he hit the pitchers mound with the ball on the throw home, so two more scored. Then another error by the 2nd baseman on Herroit's grounder scores another run, that moves Dave Waldie to second. Next up Bryon Baraieski hit home Waldie with a single, that ended Rutherflo's 6 run inning. Jeff Murphy started the game for Rutherflo but got replaced by Bryon Baraieski after the 1st inning.

Sunday June 21 - Rutherflo 3 - Scarborough Thunder - 1 - Evan Loucks had a 2 run homerun while Pat Rutherford singled in the other run. Bryon Baraieski got the win with Jeff Murphy coming in for relief in the last two innings.

Sunday June 21 - Rutherflo 1 - Pickering 0 - Craig Minifie had a solo homerun in the first inning for the only run of the game giving the Rutherflo Fastball Club the championship. Randy Fife logged 7 excellent innings getting the victory.

Rutherflo's record was 4 wins and 1 loss. They out scored their opponents 18 to 14 in 5 games. Randy Fife got game MVP of the Championship Final.
