he Gnome Empire has a long rich history, its roots based in the Empire formed by Desmond, an ancient Gnome leader born at the dawn of the Realm. Very little is known about the Old Empire, but stories have drifted through the ages of the proud race, and those traits have been inherited by the Gnomes of the present. Emperor Desmond, the first and only Emperor of the Old Empire, was a very unique Gnome in that he is the only known Gnome to practice the ways of the rogue class. Hermitos, who has since passed away, lived long after the Old Empire decayed, and saw the birth of the new Gnome Empire where he was graciously embraced with his Old Empire title of Lord Radish. Information about the Old Empire will be much appreciated and quickly added to these archives.
t one time, the Realm was full of Gnomes with no sense of community, unknowingly slaughtering their innocent brothers in the village near Chakkor. The virtuous characteristics of the Gnome race had all but died, and the Realm seemed a desolate place with little to do but join in battles against nameless enemies. Ginger and Nablar, two Gnomes who were no strangers to the Realm, discussed at length the problems facing their friends, their fellow Gnomes, and clansmen. Within a few similar meetings, the two decided that the spirit of the Gnome Empire could be nurtured to a great force, serving to benefit the entire Realm. A system of ranks and a system by which Gnomes would enlist with the Empire were established in subsequent meetings. Nablar and Ginger appointed themselves as King and Queen of the Gnomes, and the Empire's birth was announced at a great festival in which many Gnomes gathered to hear the news. In the very early months of the Empire's history, wooden torches were given to the first Imperial servants, and makeshift crowns were worn by the King and Queen. Since then, much progress has been made, and the Empire has grown considerably.
uch is in store for the Empire of the future. Because the Empire's success depends on the dedication of its rulers and members, it is a very dynamic organization, susceptible to ruin, but also capable of unlimited possibilities. The sense of pride and wisdom and brotherhood, however, will never die, as long as there is at least one Gnome willing to live by these principles.
s Queen of the Gnomes, I feel it is my duty to help keep the spirit of the Gnome code of Honor alive and prosperous. One person can only do so much; therefore, it is up to the Gnomes who make up the rest of the Empire to make the Empire a truly powerful society.
