Godzilla Kingdom

Godzilla and his chums have appeared on television countlessly, both in the US and in his native homeland of Japan. All the shows have been oriented towards young children and the Japanese ones were shown mainly before school began. Here are a few bits and pieces from them. The logo shown above is specifically from Gojira Terebi, a children's program released in syndication with Godzilla 2000.

(Godzilla Kingdom)

Godzilla Kingdom ran from 1996 to summer 1997. It featured two main characters, the professor (left) and a small, cutesy, semi-mechanical Godzilla named "Megabyte". The characters were both completely computer-animated. It was shown on TV Tokyo, Channel 12 for those of you in the Tokyo area, and it began at 7:25 and went to 7:30 AM. This is conveniently just in time for school. Basically, the premise is this: The two characters talk and sometimes argue, then they show a minute or two of clips from Godzilla films. Occasionally, Megabyte snaps at the professor and she hits him. Every now and then Megabyte spews fire at her. The professor is portrayed by Inoue Kikuko and Megabyte is voiced by Ikue Otani, who voices Pikachu. A few times, the pair would sing while the lyrics went down the bottom of the screen (even SAVE THE EARTH from Godzilla vs. Hedorah)!
