Chapter 20

Stephanie refused to look at me all the way home. But honestly, it didn’t bother me very much. I felt, so….indescribable.

I went up to my familiar poster covered room when I got home. I unpacked my bags and lay down on my bed, my exhaustion finally catching up with me. I lay starring up at the ceiling, without even realizing it, I drifted off, necklace tightly clenched in my palm.

"Lauren, Lauren! Get up now! I’m not calling you again! It’s 7:30am!" My mothers familiar voice sunk into my head as I slowly opened my eyes, rubbing them.

Smiling, I opened my clenched palm, a frown crossed my face, I looked around my bed where I assumed I let it go while sleeping. It wasn’t there.

I jumped up, "Mom! Where’s my necklace?!??"

"What Lauren? I’m trying to get ready for work and get your sister ready for school! What necklace are you talking about!?!" My mom asked impatiently.

I rolled my eyes. "The one from the hotel, the one Taylor gave to me."

My mother made a face, "What? Lauren, I don’t have time for this, I have to leave for work in 15 minutes, go ge ready for school."

I sighed, Although Stephanie was pissed as hell (or should I say jelous) I picked up the phone. After 2 rings she picked up. "Hello?" She said groggily.

"Steph, I know your pissed at me, but I cannot find the necklace anywhere!" I said frantically.

"What? I’m not pissed at you, I just talked to you last night, what would I be pissed about? And what necklace?" She asked.

My mouth dropped in horror as It finally sunk in. I dropped the phone onto the hook and ran to where I’d put the email addys and phone #’s Taylor had given me. All that was on my dresser was some strewn makeup and hair accessories.

I lay down on my bed. It had been a Dream….. I shook my head to let it sink in. Just a dream…..but what a dream it had been….
