Gurdwara Sahib El Sobrante Gurdwara Sahib El Sobrante, about twenty five miles north from San Francisco, is located at the hilltop of the beautiful El Sobrante Valley Hills. It is serving the Sikh community in the Bay Area and given the name Sikh Center of San Francisco Bay Area. It is known that Gurdwara came into existence in late 1970s. Previously local Sikhs usually carried out the religious ceremonies in their homes, however immigration of more Sikhs to the Bay Area caused few people to think about building a Sikh Temple which would serve local Sikhs in terms of carrying out general ceremonies such as weddings and Akhand Path ceremonies, etc.
This Picture was taken from the main hall Initially the Gurdwara building used to be what is now used as Langr Hall. The new building of Gurdwara was comlpeted in 1991 after four 3-4 years of construction. (Above picture is of the new gurdwara building). Gurdwara Sahib is equipped to accommodate seven to eight hundred people.
Situated at the hilltop, its architecture and uniqueness often attracts many people to come and see the site. At the northeast wing of Second floor, a huge deck offers a breath taking view of the El Sobrante valley and San Pablo Bay. Gurdwara Sahib is open to everyone (Sikhs OR non-Sikhs).
