Toronto
~ Fall, 1999 ~
My old place in Toronto had a view of the world's tallest building (the CN Tower) from the balcony. (Note; this is not it. This is a church at Bathurst & Eglinton.) You can see all of Lake Ontario from up there on a clear day (sometimes even as far as Niagara Falls and Rochester, N.Y.) Unfortunately, however, we have few clear days.
Toronto's also home to the beginning of the world's longest road (Yonge Street, although--again--this isn't it,) and has the largest Italian community in the world outside of Italy.
Beware of cars driving through puddles on the side of the road, too (again, not examples.)
It's been statistically proven--Toronto has the worst drivers in Canada. The first week I'd moved here, a cabbie sideswiped my back quarter panel and took off. Be warned.
The quietest place you can find here is a subway car packed at rush hour, even moreso than sitting in this tree. It's kinda scary.
