I'm 29 with red hair and blue eyes and I love being a natural redhead! I have a deep love for redheaded women and hope to meet the right one some day. Is it
too egotistical to be partial to other reds? Anyway, I don't have the temper
that most reds do but on the rare occasions that I do lose it I make sure it's
worth my time!! I've heard all the bullshit comments about reds although I
guess the ones about sexuality are true. The best lovers are redheads. I've
dated several redheads and I have to say that there's something incredibly
erotic about two redheads being together and losing all inhibitions!! I can't
start thinking about this right now or I won't be able to finish this
letter.... It's flattering when you know someone is looking at you and
appreciating your hair...or something else! I think we're a little smarter
than most and are able to handle situations better because we're aware that
we're different at an early age. I wouldn't give up being red for the world!!
Thanks for the info Brekkett!! *REDD*
I think that for children the consequence of having red hair is very different for girls than it is for boys. Boys are far more aggressive than girls. There are probably exceptions to this rule, but I reckon in average girls only get teased, but boys do even get punched - sometimes.
When I was about 13 years old the bully from the next class made a comment, so I made a comment about his black hair - which is far less insulting, I think - and he started to chase me over the schoolyard with three of his friends. It was going for a couple of days like this, and I always had to hide in the schoolbreaks. It ended, when I was standing in front of my teacher crying and telling him about it. Man that was very embarrasing to cry when you are already 13. And some of my classmates saw it. Really embarrasing.
Rughly in the same age another guy from my class made stupid comments. I was tall and strong and he was a whimp. At first I didn't care and I ignored him, but after a while other people from my class told me I should just fight him. So in one schoolbreak, when he made a stupid comment again, I pushed him down to the floor, and I got a good hold on him. He was touching the ground with his face, and I asked him to give up and say sorry for his comments. Tough luck for me, that he knew how peacefull I am. He just refused to give up; he refused to say sorry and he did not promise to stop it. But I was far to peaceful to really hurt him. So after a couple of minutes the teacher came and I let him go. Well, he did stop anyway, but I think I should have punched him. Man sometimes I am angry about my peacefullness even today. Maybe this is why redhead males are getting teased so often: because people think you take the insults without any action against it. By the way, this is the way male redheads are always depicted in the movies. On the screen you see people making stupid comments to a redhead, but he never takes revenge. You never see a male redhead punching anyone - not in american movies at least.
Then there is another difference in the redhair subject between girls and boys again in the age of - lets say 15 to 20. Stupid bullies and assholes did take away your self-esteem the last 10 years, and now it comes to things like dating. Well I think for a girl it is not as much important to have a high self-esteem. Girls are asked out. You don't ned much self esteem to _get_ asked for a date. But you do need self esteem to activly asked somebody out. !!
The girls in my class have been interressted in me - I knew this from exaggerated helloing and smiling to me. But I didn' trust in my luck, because I didn't feel attractive. Today I do by the way. Not to everyone, of course, but there are girls who do like redhaired males, and redhaired males are rare; so for them I am something special. So when I do meet some girl today who is really nice to me I trust the signs, and mostly I am right. But it did take me to the age of 20 until I did get over my stolen self-esteem, and I did start dating.
So this is in my eyes the explanation for the stereotype of redheads beeing late. There is no physical difference, but it takes time to develop a self-confidence again. I wish somebody would have told me to be proud about my redhair when I was a kid already. I wish I would have learned to fight, and to not have scruples to punch. Maybe then I would have felt better, and I probably would have trusted in the signs I got from the female classmates.
Maybe I will have redhaired kids sometime. Then I will teach them how to fight, and how to avoid to use this capabilities. But I will also tell my son to not let anyone take away your pride. If the asshole doesn't stop after you told him -lets say twice- you just take out one of his teath. Don't get me wrong. I still hate violence, but geting teased is a kind of violence, too (psychological violence). And in the german basic law it is written that self defence is when you attack somebody after he tried to hurt you physically or your honour. So it is even legal to punch somebody who insults you.
I will tell my kids to say "thank you" and smile, and take it as a compliment, when they are called "redhead". Maybe some idiots lose fun in teasing somebody who is proud of being special. And I think you are rare, and you can be proud of it. This feeling of pride has to be given to young redheads. And the guys teasing you are just envious, and they feel bad about beeing average, themselves. I whish somebody would have told me so when I was a kid.
Something more about attractiveness: Redhaird woman are more attractive than other woman - not doubt about it. There was a poll among men with the question which hair color they prefer. The results: 48% of men prefer blonde woman 40% of men prefer black-haired woman 12% of men prefer redhaired woman
These numbers alone don't say anything about attractiveness. If you want to have a measure for attractiveness you have to consider that only 4% of woman do have red hair. This means that every redhaired woman does have 3 admirers.(12/4=3). So this is a number-proof: redhaired woman are more attractive.
What about the vice versa statistic? How many woman prefer redhaired men? Probably not many. But this does again not mean that redhaired men are less attractive. Because only 4% of men do have red hair there are more woman prefering red hair than redhaired men. It is just more difficult for a man to find this woman than it is for a redhaire woman to find an admirer.
Well, but here in germany girls are becoming more emancipated which means also that they do admit when they like somebody. So the situation is improving. And I have no reason to complain anymore about my hair, since I left the teasing behind.
Any comments on this are welcome: Eilers
