A long time ago (actually July 1995) in a place far, far away (Seths couch) some people (Seth and Matt) had an idea (to form a band!). They never imagined the serious repercussions their actions would have. The End... or so we thought.
The DEFECTS is a band from Lancaster, Pennsylvania(USA). Like the previous paragraph states, the band was formed in July 1995 when Seth Cannon (Bass, Lead Vocals) and Matt Kennedy (Drums) were musically inclined to joint-write lyrics to a song, later named "Left Behind." After a few weeks of searching for a guitarist, David Kiger, a close friend to Seth, joined the band. They got to work as Kamikaze. A plethora of songs followed the introduction of David to the band. Seth and Matt wrote lyrics, and they decided they were on to something. Music followed the lyrics and a few songs were completed. A short musical depression followed.Another musical inclination hit and the band go back to business as Acetone, a name Matt came up with from one of his songs. The band gained popularity never having played a show and T-shirts were printed. Progress slowed down and the band decided to take the summer off and get back to work in September. Seth and Matt were hard at work on new songs and musical styles (mostly punk). They practiced once again, and then went back on vacation, but not on purpose.
Then the bad news hit. Acetone was nameless, they found out there was another band who already used the name. The band was thinking about changing their name anyway, but this gave them no choice in the matter. They looked for an additional guitarist hoping to play more complex music easily. With the addition of guitarist Jason Brown, the band, Renamed the DEFECTS, was sparked by new ideas and many new songs were written. Within a few months Jason was given the boot. David was not available again. This posed no problem to Seth and Matt who began multitracking an album and venturing into new musical styles. T-shirts and other band memorabilia were designed. Seth and Matt searched for a guitarist to replace Jason and eventually met Matt Moyer who joined the band and drasticly improved their hardcore sound. An album is now in progress on DFX records, with Matt playing guitar.
