WALTER H. PEARSON - (May 4, 1945 - Inverness, Scotland)
Many of his old friends in Glen-Urquhart, Glasgow and elsewhere will regret to learn of the passing of Mr. Walter H. Pearson, The Villa Balnain, who died May 4th, 1945 at the Royal Northern Infirmary. He was born in India over 79 years ago, where his father was then an officer in the British Army. At an early age Mr. Pearson enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery, and was for several years stationed on the N.W. Indian Frontier, and attained the rank of Sergeant before retiring from that service. He then came to Glasgow, and for many years was employed as a foreman in the Clydeside ship building yards. After that he emigrated to Prince Edward Island, Canada, where he remained for over five years, after which he returned to this country with his wife and grand-daughter, and came to reside in retirement to Balnain. Of a kindly and unassuming nature and social disposition, he made many friends throughout his lifetime. He took a keen interest in the progress of the war, and listened intently to the news over the wireless. Of particular concern to him was the fortunes of the native Indian regiments and the distinctions won by the officers and men of that army gave him great pleasure. The sympathy of neighbours and friends is extended to Mrs. Pearson, to his sister, Mrs. Masterton, Glasgow, and to his grand-daughter, Mrs. Jack Macdonald, Inverness.
