Welcome to a tour of Akiak

The city of Akiak is comprised of one (1) square mile of land. Approximately one-half mile of gravel road forms a square around the center of the village, legs reaching out to connect the gas station, the landfill, and the airport.

Akiak's airstrip was improved with lights last summer, while being lengthened and widened.

Home of the Arlicaq Thunderbolts

Akiak's school is named after the village's founder. Arlicaq school was built in the mid-1970's.

Arlicaq Elementary

This school was built in 1928 as a B.I.A. school and served children through the eighth grade. Today, the primary students attend in this building and are called to class by an old school bell.
