June 27th D.C., Camp, and my busy month

So it's been almost a month. And i feel bad that I didn't write here once I got back from Washington but I was a lazy person...kinda like those scary larrys we saw there. Sorry inside joke...it was too good not to write. So like I'm sitting around on Sunday night and realized I haven't updated my page in a long while and might as well do it so here I am writing. We left June 3rd for D.C. I could give you the exact time but I don't want this to take forever. So we get on the highway to go to Jackson Tennesse. Of course if you have ever driven the highway from the Air Force Base to Memphis you know what an awful hgihway it is. And of course it is our luck that there was a huge wreck and so we didn't get to JAckson for 6 hours when it was supposed to take 4. So the nine of us were like Bed! Sleep!. And of course we had to wake up at dark thirty the next morning. So of course we slept all the way. You have never seen girls who could careless how they looked than if you saw us while we were traveling to and from D.C. We all either wore slickies or PJ pants. It was soo nice not to care about how you looked. I'm sure we looked pretty rugged. So we got in D.C. and found the place we were staying with no problems what-so-ever. We were staying at a church in downtown D.C. The guy who lived in the church and was like our security guy was really nice. I think by the time we heard his speech about the windows, doors, and outside we were all scared. Downtown D.C. is a major drug/prostitution place. We were told not to look down the alleys, out the windows, and to mess with the doors which all had metal bars on them to keep them from being opened. The church on the other hand was gorgeous. It had the most amazing organ. The organ had handbells trumpets and almost everysize of pipes imagineable. It was so neat. We ate the Post Office and went up in the bell tower. Wow! What an amazing view of Washington. It was better than the Washington Monument because the Washington Monument had scaffling all over it and it was harder to see out of it. We went to almost every monument. We went to Lincoln, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Veitnam Memorial. We also got to see the Albert Einstien statue. Our group picture from ther is cute except for the fact that I'm squished against his cheek. We had a special tour of the Capitol by two interns. It was really neat to see all that stuff. And then we got to go sit in on the Senate. There was only like 3 or 4 senators in the chamber. They discussed gun shows and something else and then we left. We went and met one of our senators. He seemed nice and we got another good group picture with him. The President of Hungary came to town while we were in Washington and we were invited to go and watch the greeting ceremony. It was something not many people get to do. I enjoyed watching it. There were all sorts of bands and colorguards. Two of the soldiers fainted. It was kinda scary to think about. They covered it well though. The next day we went back to the White House to tour it. The White House Tour stunk! It only showed 7 rooms. What kinda tour is that?? huh? I think they should atleast show 10 rooms....7 isn't good enough!! I bet people would complain if they had 10. So I guess I understand. We went to Mount Veron by boat. WE all got in a big fight there and made up on the way back. Also on the way back we got a show none of the girls wanted to see. I'll leave it at that. We were all disgisted. Th next day we went to Busch Gardens. It was sooo much fun! I liked it better than Six Flags. I've been to Six Flags soo many times I'm siick of it so I am not a good judge. It just had more upside down rides and more rollercoasters. We headed back and by the final night in our trip we were in Nashville, Tn. I saw some family friends and had a great time there. I got home and slept forever it felt like. I had a week of and the last week I was off to camp. I've gone to this camp since I was in 3rd grade. I think that week though has affected me more than all the other weeks combined. It changed my whole perspective on my camp friends and made me open my heart and helped me let out things I hadn't let out to many people before. I became soo much closer with all my camp friends and miss them sooo much now. But we will see each other soon. And we will all cherish the memories we made at camp. So that's the big stuff that's happened in the past couple of weeks. Hope you enjoyed it! Love, Alice
