Population: 109,732 (1996 census)

Local Government:

Meath County Council, Council Offices, Navan, Co. Meath.

 

Topography:

Generally low-lying and undulating. Generally fertile agricultural land, with a small bog-land in the north-west. Well drained by two major rivers, Boyne and Blackwater, which join at Navan and enter the sea at Drogheda. A few small lakes on western and northern borders.

Fertile soil is especially suited for grassland and grazing. Cattle and sheep rearing, oats and barley main agricultural occupations. Also horse stud farms and training.
