" oh my!" gasped a young cat. "take a look at her. the poor thing's probably starving." 2 cats looked down at me. you could tell they were family. one was white with black around the eyes, while the other was black with white around the eyes. " i wonder why she's all alone out here." the black tom pondered. slowly, i dragged my head off of the ground. the 2 cats helped me up. remembering my manners, i mumbled,"thank you."

"oh don't waste your breath dear. you need all of your streangth." the queen replied. we walked for a few minutes until we reached their house.

once inside, i was given something to eat."why were you all alone out there?" the tom asked.

"my mother and i are new to this town and we were sight seeing when this monster of a cat jumped out of the bushes and attacked us"

"that was probably macavity." the queen commented.

"whose macavity?" i asked.

"macavity is a mystery cat, he's called the neapoleon of crime."the tom answered."

"and who are you?" i asked. "oh where are my manners?"the queen scoalded herself."i'm hunter and this is rumble."

"nice to meet you.i'm danger." i replied." anyway, as i was telling you, my mother was fighting macavity 'cause he attacked us. when his back was turned to me, i jumped on him and started to claw and bite. he swung around and hit me. i don't know what happened after that."

"that's a sad story." rumble mentioned. "aparently your mother has either been taken prisoner or has been killed."

"um, actually i know for a fact that it is the latter."hunter confessed. "how?" rumble
inquired. "remember that i told you that i had found something. i was
standing over near a bunch of crates but when you came over, i moved
to
the girl?" "yeah, i remember." " well, i moved because it was a dead
queen lying there." as i found out that my world had been turned
upside
down, the only thing running through my head was that i could have
done
something. "well," hunter concluded," we can't just leave you without
a
family, but we can't keep you here 'cause there isn't enough money or
space, so i guess that means that tomorrow we take you to our tribe."
"tribe?" i asked. "yeah, we belong to a tribe called the jellicles. we
gather in the junkyard." rumble informed. "would i be accepted into
your
tribe?" "yes." with my new family determined, we all went ot sleep.
when morning came, i didn't expect anything bad to happen. boy was i
ever wrong. the 3 of us started to walk towards the junkyard. when it
was in
view, we could hear singing. a few of the jellicles looked over at us.
suddenly something grabbed me from behind. a large paw covered my
mouth
and i saw that rats were grabbing hunter and rumble as well. hunter let
out a loud scream that alerted the jellicles. the tribe ran for us but
the rats had knocked out hunter and rumble when everything went
black.the next thing i saw wasa ginger cat sitting on a pile of
pillows.looking around me, all that i saw was a few guards, a fire
place
giving off heat and the cat sitting on the pillows. the cat got up off
of the pillows and walked over to me. "what do we have here? a kitten
who resembles my `beloved` nemesis." the way he said beloved told me
that he would like to kill this nemesis person."what's your name
kitten?" he demanded. "danger,"was my reply," and who are you?" " you
don't know me? i didn't hit you hard enough to cause memory loss." he
paused for a few seconds. "i'm the cat who killed your mother. and if
i
wanted to, i could kill you." he raised his claws above my throat.
with
his claws threatening my life, a quick thought of survival flashed
through my head. i may have been a kitten, but at that moment my
kittenhood stopped."you may take a life but all that does is prove
your
cowardice." i spoke the words with an acid voice. a quick look of
surprise from him as he moved his claws. " how would my killing you
make
me a coward?" i gave a smirk as i replied,"if you have to kill a
kitten
to show others that your all powerful then your afraid that others
will
not respect you." "you lie kitten. as for your life." he streched th
pause passed decency. " your life is now mine to control." as my life
sentence was passed, macavity signaled for the guards to come over.
"go
find an extra collar. make sure it has a loop for a chain. bring a
chain
also." for a few minutes, i was left alone with macavity. most cats
would have tried to escape since the guards weren't there, but i just
sat there. what a greeting to a new town.my mother and i came here to
visit my dad. the door creaked open and the guards hurried in. "we
found
both items which you requested." he lifted the restraints so macavity
could inspect them. he approached me. "don't try to struggle, it would
be useless."he stated. quickly, he placed the collar around my neck.
it
was an old neclace which was small enough to fit me. it was made up of
stars and creasent moons tips attaching.he then attached the chain.
"where are hunter and rumble." i asked him. " the 2 cats you came in
with. oh i already killed them." he stated simply. "what!" i screamed.
in a fury i lunged at him. i actually grabbed his throat before he
ripped me off and threw me as far as my chain would allow. i went
soaring threw the air until my chain's lenght was up. then i was
whipped
to the ground. with a bang, i hit the ground. my hole body hurt and i
was blacking out. the last thing i heard was his laughter. after i
woke up (awhile later), i noticed that my wounds had been treated.

i
thought, why would he threaten to kill me one minute then take care of
me the next. i stood up even though my body screamed for a break.
walking over to the door, i knocked on it. a muffeled voice came from
the other side. "go get macavity, he wanted to know when she woke up."
oh joy. that's all i needed, another confrontation with macavity.after
a
few minutes of waiting,macavity showed up. the chain was placed back
in
my collar and i was led down the hallway. i wished that i knew which
way
the north was, and what time it was, that way i could make a plan to
escape. "danger," macavity groweled, "you can wash up in here." he
opened the door to a room with a tub in the middle. there was steam
rising from the water. looking down at myself, i saw that even thogh
my
wounds were clean, i wasn't. gingerly, i slipped down into the tub.
man
it felt nice. i was in there for awhile. drying myself off, i
remembered
my collar. i ran back and put the collar back on. he thought that
since
i was a kitten, i wouldn't know how to work a collar.hah, i know how
to
use it and it may be a way for me to escape. smiling to myself, i
walked
to the door and knocked to be let out. once outside things changed.
the
chain was placed back on, but the guards were staring at me.they took
me to a throne room. there i got even more odd looks. this time from
everyone, even macavity stared at me.i was so tempted to hide. instead
of doing that, i alked into that room with my head held high, my
shoulders back and a posture that made it seem that i owned the place.
the guards took me over to macavity. macavity took the chain from the
guards and they left to their posts. i sat down. meeting every stare
in
the room, i sat there and tried to look as important as possible.
quietly, i asked macavity,"why is everyone staring at me?" he looked
at
me, slightly amused. "we're looking at you like this for 2 reasons.
the
first reason is that you're a lovely kitten and the second reason is
that you look exactly like the jellicle leader only opposite."
"opposite?" "yeah, your coat is black with silver lightening stripes
while the jellicle has a silver coat with black lightening stripes."
"oh.who is the jellicle leader?" he looked at me with surprise."you
look
exactly like him but you don't know him.the jellicle leader is
munkustrap.well, actually deuteronomy is the leader but munkustrap is
second in command." "oh. why did you kill hunter and rumble?" "i
didn't." "but yesterday you said that you killed them and then i
attached you." "i haven't killed them but they wish that they were
dead.
it's breaking them and i concider that killing a person." "oh. may i
see
them?" "no." "why not?" " you do not want to go where they are." "i
want
to see them!" i screamed the last part. several cats looked up." i see
that you don't have your fathers patience.oh well, i warned you."
macavity agreed. i didn't even pay attention to his remark about my
father, a tom i had never met. we walked through many halls. then we
came to an area where i saw something that i would never forget for
the
rest of my life. there, i saw dozens of cats locked up. either along
the
wall or in a crowded cage. hunter and rumble ran over to the bars of
the
cage. i ran to them. my chain pulled back on me until macavity gave
more
length to it.all of the cats were staring at me. "are you guys okay?"
i
asked them. no responce. "what's wrong?" rumble stopped the
silence,"do
you know who you look like?" he asked me. "yeah, macavity said that i
looked like a jellicle called munkustrap. now answer my question. are
you ok?" "yeah we're fine,"hunter piped up,"why do you have that
collar
and chain on?" "oh, it's part of my restrainment. i can't escape and i
can't fight, though i have tried." i held up my bandaged arms. "don't
worry, i'm alright." i said before they could even say a word.
macavity
started to walk towards us. "have you seen enough?" he asked lightly.
"let them go. they don't belong in a cage." i ordered. he looked at me
with surprise. "you're ordering me to let them go?" "yes.they don't
belong here, i don't belong here but i'll stay here even without the
chain,if you let them go." i heard gasps from the cage. hunter and
rumble looked at me. "you can't do that danger.if your who i think you
are than you're much more important than we are." "i don't care who
you think i am. if you go, you can live and maybe even get help." the
last
part i whispered. macavity was still thinking over the deal. "danger
come with me." he ordered. when we got to the door,he turned and
looked
at me. "you'll stay here if i let them go. so to that i say that they
go
free." a guard took my chain and led me to my room. the guard looked
at
me and said, "there will be a party tonight celebrating macavity's
triumph over the jellicles. you will be attending that party." with
that
he left.
as macavity watched me leave,he turned to the guard."take
those
2
cats," he pointed to hunter and rumble," and take them to the
courtyard.
keep them there until i'm sure danger will try not to escape." "right.
i was thinking of so many things at once that i started to
feel
sick.
so i decided to lay down and take a nap. i don't know how long i slept
but it was the first sleep that i had that wasn't caused by me getting
hit. i awoke with a start. nothing had changed in my room. i
remembered
the questions that woke me up.how did macavity triumph over the
jellicles and who did hunter and rumble think i am?
