Murder on Broadway
To the Tune of "Murder on Music Row" by George Strait and Alan Jackson
By: Sabregata
Nobody saw them running
Out of the Winter Garden.
We did not find the body
Or the murder weapon.
But CATS was killed soon after
Eighteen years of fame.
There’s been an awful murder
Down there on Broadway.
Chorus:
For the Jellicles no longer roam
The Junkyard late at night,
And no singing and no dancing
Takes place in the twilight.
(spoken) Well old T.S. would be
Spinning in his grave
If he knew of this murder
Down there on Broadway.
They think no one will miss it
Once it is out of sight.
They think no one will want to see
Jellicles dance at midnight. (well I wanna see it)
Well there’s no justice in it,
For what happened on that day
Was an awful murder
Down there on Broadway.
Chorus:
For the Jellicles no longer roam
The Junkyard late at night.
No melodious singing
Can be heard in the twilight.
(spoken) Mistoffelees wouldn’t have a chance
On the Winter Garden stage
Since they committed murder
Down there on Broadway.
(instrumental break)
Maybe it will come back
Some time, somehow, some way.
When will they revive this
Murder on Broadway?
