Carbohydrate Formation in Photosynthesis and Oxidation in Metabolism Together Constitute the Major Energy Cycle in Life

Among the most important of the biological molecules are the carbohydrates. Like the previously studied biomolecules in this course, carbohydrates are a large reason for life as we know it. Carbohydrate formation in photosynthesis and oxidation in metabolism together constitute the major energy cycle in life, which relates to previous learning from biochemistry, and other biology and chemistry courses, regarding energy production via ATP, oxidation, photosynthesis, and oxidative metabolism. We shall also briefly discuss carbohydrate structure in comparison to protein structure (see Carbohydrate Function - Polysaccharides).
