This engine was the world's first successful Vtec on the track, and up until this day it is still KICKING @ss.... This engine has made up for its low torque, due to its 1.6L engine, by such incredible compression even exceeding the GS-R's. This engine was always ,and is now more popular because of its pressence in the 1999 si coupe legally shipped in the USA. Out puting 160 bhp on the si, the engine was a show off beast, but not long for the 99 si's. Many 99 Si's found them selves coming up short in races due to the heavy coupe body that honda placed the B16A in. Well due to its potential, high compression, low cost (compared to 1.8L vtec, and type R engines) and the fact that it is a Vtec, many hybrid lovers start picking up the B16A and dropping them, in 3rd, 4th, 5th and sometimes 6th generation civics. If you are familiar with the vtec wiring and hybrid work, and you are low in cash but have enough for the B16, well pick it....because you will kick any integra GSR like a run away slave, and many road racers will be talking about your car.
