Hansel B. Trusty, in his youth, was hired out to a slave holder, he ran away from home at age 13 and came to Arkansas. He returned to Tennessee two years later, approximately the year 1847 and found that his parents had died. He decided to return to Arkansas, and his brother Henry Trusty had come with him and they stayed at Crowley's Ridge, Greene Co., AR in eastern Arkansas, later, Hansel moved to Ellsworth, AR. He was a veteran of the Black Hawk War in Company B, 4th Arkansas Cavalry, USA, Civil War. He became a Mason and served during the Civil War in the Battle of Pea Ridge and in the Battle of Helena near Vicksburg, MS.
John Hansel Trusty & Martha Jane Lee had one son known of, at present, Arthur Henry Trusty who married Ola Mae Lee.
