They would try to get her to go help find his grave but she would say "now it is too fer". Mrs. Lee Roy Moore relates, "When Clara was young, people would tell her she was too dumb to learn at school so she stayed at home to help "Ma"." She never married but content to live with her brothers and sisters. In later years, she went to the "poor house" in Polk County until it was closed down due to better welfare programs. She then lived with Jud Titsworth's widow, Elsie, at Nunley. There she roamed freely in the hills to stop and talk to anyone who would listen of her tales of old times and the people she knew of. The following is a newspaper article from, The Mena Star, "Doing Research On Titsworth's In This Area", dated the 26 Jun 1969.

"Mrs. Hallie Becksted from Tucson, AZ and Pearl Pippenger of KS City, MO (her sister) were the granddaughters of Mary Magdaline Bennett of Fort Smith, the sister of Newton Clark Titsworth, Sr. of Nunley, AR. They called on descendents for genealogy information of the Titsworth's, speaking to; Mrs. Arch Titsworth, Clara Baker, Grace Bain and Mrs. Spear Titsworth. Part of the discussions centered on the Titsworth reunions that were held at Mena, AR Janssen Park, on the first Sunday in July each year. The spring at the park surrounds a tale orally handed down through the family. Bill Cloud who married Johnann Titsworth, the sister of N. C. Titsworth related the story."

"Some of the Titsworth's, including Newton Clark, then a child, joined a caravan en route to Texas. They were taking cattle to the canebrakes along the Red River for the winter. This area was what is known now, as Janssen Park and the park spring watered the cattle. Author-Mable House."
