The Clarksville Democrat, obit dated 6 Feb 1913, "Hezekiah Blackard born 9th Feb 1843 Johnson Co., AR. He was the son of "Uncle Toliver" Blackard. He spent his entire life in Johnson County. He enlisted during the civil war & served in the 16th Regiment, Company A, Arkansas infantry, with the rank of lieutenant. During the Port Hutson charge led by Capt. A. S. McKennon, Mr. Blackard fell into the ditch in front of a trench, and Capt. McKennon ran over him, breaking his collar bone. He and the Capt. spoke of this story often in later years. Mr. Blackard was a friend and comrade with Senator Berry and both departed this life on the same day. After the war, Mr. Blackard married Miss Isabelle Wilson, a daughter of the law partner of Col. Cravens. Mrs. Blackard died 20 years before her husband and on the same day of the month. Mr. Blackard died on the 30th Jan 1913. He is survived by his sons; Noel and Oscar, from Johnson County. His daughters; Mrs. Charles Bell, Mrs. John Bell, Sebastian County. Mrs. Paul McKennon, Mrs. Henry Lewis, and Miss Ella Blackard, Clarksville. In the death of "Ki", the town has lost a good citizen and man. His was buried, per his request, in his Confederate gray uniform. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Friday afternoon, by the Reverend of the Methodist Church".


The Herald Democrat, dated 5 Aug 1930, "Frederic Stoudt died at 7:30pm, at the home of Mrs. Joe King, niece. He was born 13 Aug 1848, New Orleans, LA. He moved to Ft. Smith with his parents, at age 5. He lived fr 60 years, in Clarksville, 15 years with Mrs. King. He was a contractor, and builder. Funeral service at First Methodist Church. Buried: Oakland Cemetery. Wife died 50 years ago. Survivors: Sister; Mrs. Kate Armstrong, Memphis, TN. Nieces: Mrs. O. O. Jameson, Teague, TX".


The Herald Democrat, dated 28 Aug 1930, "John V. Blackard, 72, resident of Muldrow, OK, died at home at 8:30pm, Thursday night, August 21. Funeral service will be held in the Methodist Episcopal Church, Muldrow. Survivors: his wife. Daughters: Mrs. Hugh Simpson, Mildred & Alice Blackard, home. Mrs. J. G. Payne, Tocoma, WA. Sons: J. V., Sulphur, OK, Grover, Ponca City, OK, W. B., Norman, Sidney & Carl, California, Willard, Ft. Smith. Brothers: W. D. & T. H. Blackard, Ft. Smith & T. G. Blackard, Clarksville. Sister: Mrs. S. Park, Clarksville, & nine grandchildren".


The Herald Democrat, dated 13 Nov 1930, "J. Frank Wilson, 78, died at home in Fresno, California October 19, 1930. Burial: Mountain View Cemetery. His parents: Mr. & Mrs. John M. Wilson. His wife: Mrs. Emma Wilson, son; John L. Wilson and two grandchildren; Robert & Dorothy Wilson, Fresno, CA".


The Herald Democrat, dated 13 Jan 1944, "Tolliver G. Blackard, 82 years old, farmer and fruit grower, died at his home of 47 years, on East Wilson street Jan 8th. He was married to Miss Dellah Donnell on 20th Nov 1889. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Burial: Oakland Cemetery".
