The Paris Express, dated 22 Dec 1952, “Dave Spicer, 83, died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds Thursday afternoon at 3:30pm. Spicer was alone on the front porch on the farm. He shot himself with a shotgun below the heart. Mrs. Norman Spicer, daughter-in-law heard the shot and found him dead. It was reported he was in poor health. No note was found. He was a farmer & long time resident of Cross Roads Community and a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors: Sons; Norman, Jess, Joe & Cliff, of Cross Roads, & T. O. Spicer, Fayetteville. Daughters; Mrs. George Henry Dooley, Mrs. Lura Kelton & Mrs. Bessie Dodson, all of CA.
