Notes on the Maxwell family
The family came from Marion County, TN to Benton County, AR in the 1850's. During the Civil War most of their homes were burned, with the exception of Leonard Maxwell's. The Maxwell's fled to the southern counties of Arkansas.

Leonard was killed in an explosion and was buried beside his father, William H. Maxwell in Plunkett Cemetery (Pleasant Grove). After his death, Mary Kitty moved to Stigler, Haskell Co., Oklahoma with her four children and they attended Stigler Public School. In the 40's, she left Stigler, OK and moved to California.
Pleasant Grove Cemetery is also called Plunkett Cemetery.
