Lovett Holland Shelton lived in Driggs Community throughout his life and was a minister of the Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith and pastored throughout Arkansas and Oklahoma. He also was a school teacher in Paint Rock, Barnhill, Mt. Pisgah, Bebo, and Titsworth.

She came to AR at age 14 & spent her lifetime in AR. Survivors: Daughters: Mrs. Shelton, Mrs Maggie Dempsey, Magazine, & Mrs. Sylvia Brown, Booneville. Sons: Virgil, Edmonds, Ponca City, OK, Tautant “Jack” Edmonds, Van Buren. Sister: Mrs. Eugene Oliver, Magazine, Brothers: Bert, John Esbey, Ft. Smith, Willie Esbey, Hartford & Ernest Esbey, Gentry. Funeral services held at Paint Rock Cemetery”. Pallbearers: Paul Buzbee, Harry Shirley, Frank Nichols, Clyde Hampton, Elmer Butler, & Carlton Hixson”.

Darlene Shelton Lee, 76, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, a loving mother, wife and grandmother died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Pleasant Valley Health Care Center. Darlene was born August 25, 1931 in Paris, Arkansas to John and Hazel Shelton. She was a 1949 graduate of Paris High School and later graduated from Arkansas Tech College in Russellville with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. On Nov. 1, 1957, she married Bob Lee of Branch. They later made their home in Muskogee. After moving to Muskogee, she completed her master’s degree in education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Darlene taught elementary school for over 20 years and completed the last several years of her teaching career at Tony Goetz Elementary School in Muskogee. She had a great love and passion for teaching children and spending extra time to make sure her students excelled in their studies. Darlene was a dedicated and devoted member of Southeast Baptist Church where she attended regularly until a decline in her health. She was a faithful servant and her life was an example of a life devoted to Christ and left an imprint on many lives. She enjoyed traveling to Branson, Mo., for vacation with her family, attending the shows and shopping for things for her home. She loved family gatherings, holidays and vacations, especially when it involved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Darlene was witty and had a great sense of humor. She left a legacy of a life devoted to Christ and love and care of family and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel Shelton and sister, Colleen Shelton. She is survived by her husband, Bob Lee of the home; daughter, Johnna Beth Lee of Muskogee; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Jeannie Lee of Fort Gibson; one grandson, Zachary Lee; three granddaughters, Ami Maddocks of Fort Gibson, Melissa Dotson and husband, Barry, of Tahlequah and Katie Bergmann of Muskogee; four great-grandchildren, Allison Maddocks, Seth Dotson, Hailey Dotson, and Caleb Dotson. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday at Southeast Baptist Church with Rev. Monty Baggett officiating. Interment was in OakWood Cemetery in Paris. Pallbearers were Gary Green, David Byrd, Zachary Lee, and Jack Edmonds. Honorary pallbearers are Floyd Damme, Charles Barber, Sonny Salmon, and J.B. Bass. The family would like to express a special thank you to Pleasant Valley Health Care Center and Trinity Hospice for the love and care of Darlene. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.

Helen Faye Boles Shelton was a member of 2nd Baptist Church of Ventura, CA. Her sons: Hoyt, Quinton Shelton, daughter: Virginia Burnett.
