Memoirs about Anna and David Lee from Mark H. Trusty

"There were two sets of Lea/Lee's, one having a light complexion and the other dark complexion. Now, David had a light complexion, his family were quakers and hated slavery, and spelled their names L-e-a. Anne had a dark complexion, her family were democrats and Baptists, and spelled their names L-e-e. After of few years of marriage they took to spelling their names L-e-e. Her grandfather was LightHorse Harry Lee." (memoirs of Mark Trusty)

"I once had a pair of scissors that belonged to Anne Lee, my great grandmother and these scissors were given to my great, great, grandfather, LightHorse Harry Lee. I let them get away from me while in California, the scissors were made in England in the first years of 1700." (memoirs of Mark Trusty)

"I have heard my grandmother Easter Lee talk about one of our ever so great grandmothers, she came over on the first ship load of "wives" to come to America. She was sold for 300 pounds of tobacco for her passage. She refused to marry the man that bought her, so she worked as a slave for 3 years to pay off her debt. I don't know who she married but her maiden name was Rains." (Memoirs of Mark Trusty)
