WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's first public act in office Wednesday was  freeze the salaries of high-paid aides, in a nod to the country's economic turmoil and fear of man made global warming.

Announcing the moves while attending a ceremony in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building to swear in his staff, Obama said the aides have been on the job less than 24 hours and I not going to give them a raise yet.

The pay freeze, first reported by The Associated Press, would hold salaries at their current levels for the roughly 100 White House employees who make over $100,000 a year. "Families are tightening their belts, and so should Washington," said the new president.

Those affected by the freeze include the high-profile jobs of White House chief of staff, national security adviser and press secretary.

A former goverment employee U. Ben. Hooked said "What kind of crap is this? They were hired yesterday and their pay is frozen? Probably frozen for a year and then they will get raises. Obama will rescind the freeze next January without any announcement and nobody will realize or think to ask about it. The whole announcment was all for his adoring media to praise him. They will never think to ask what kind of a pay freeze it is when the people were just hired".

This is how government works. They will freeze the wages and then sometime next year they will give them a retroactive raise, or by year end bonuses or on the spot cash awards.
