  Animal Testing

Animal Testing is a horrific and cruel practice used by many companies today. Animals are subjected to painful tortures so that consumers can have better products. The problem is, consumers don't want these animals tortured! It is the consumer who is fighting the battle to stop animal testing! So why do companies still use this barbaric method of testing?

In this modern world, science has grown by leaps and bounds. Animal testing is no longer necessary (not that I ever think it was to begin with). Yet there are still companies out there that condone and utilize this inhumane practice. Small rodents such as rabbits, mice, gerbils and hamsters, have hair color rubbed into their eyes, hair spray sprayed into their lungs, and other painful and ultimately fatal tests. Some animals have broken their necks and backs trying to escape the pain, unable to break free from their harnesses. What is the purpose of all of this? This type of torture is illegal to practice on humans, so why is it not illegal to maime and destroy animals this way?

By only buying products marked Not tested on animals can we hope to stop this cruel practice. Boycotting products that test their products on animals will send a message to those companies that consumers are fed up and want the testing to stop. So check the labels on everything you buy and help stop the torture.

Protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

Hello fellow animal lovers,
I thought I would share with you a letter I received back from my senator
regarding the ANWR letter I sent from the site you recommended - WalkingMoon

"Thank you . . .
. . . for contacting me to share your strong support for protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) from oil exploration. I share your convictions.

Since my days in the Michigan legislature, I have been a strong advocate for environmental protections and the preservations of our natural resources. I am proud to be a co-sponsor of S.411, which designates ANWR as a wilderness area, and protects it from oil exploration and other potentially harmful developments. I was also a co-sponsor of similar legislation when I served in the House of Representatives.

As you know, ANWR is the largest untouched wildlife refuge in the country, and is a critical habitat for caribou, polar bears and hundreds of other species. Drilling in ANWR would expose this pristine region to potentially irreversible environmental damage, without providing any immediate energy relief for American families. Studies show that ANWR would likely supply only about 2 percent of America's oil demand in any given year, and this oil would not be available for at least a decade.

Again, thank you for contacting me to express your support for protecting ANWR. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can ever be of assistance in the future.

Sincerely,
Debbie Stabenow
United States Senator"
