Poetry - The Cross Roads

The Cross Roads

I’m standing at the cross roads,
But what direction do I take?
Straight ahead, left, right -
I have a decision to make.

I have the choice of many paths,
Where do they all go?
But which way is right?
And there is only one way to know.

One is familiar, the one straight ahead;
I know that it is safe for me -
I’ve been on it all my life,
But I know there is more to see.

One is new, it’s never been seen
And the way looks kind and fair,
And it would be a new adventure -
But I must take care.

The last I know, but I still don’t know -
What’s at the end? I have not been told;
It is familiar and kind to me -
But I don’t know if I can take that road.

Straight ahead, left, right - where do I go?
My mind is in eternal strife -
I must make a decision
So I can go on with my life.

I am standing at the cross roads -
I don’t know what direction to take.
‘Till then, I’ll stand here thinking,
But I have a decision to make.

I shall be telling this with a sigh,
Somewhere, ages and ages hence,
two roads diverges in a wood and I -
I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference.
