True Love's Kiss

I've been looking for my soulmate And have searched both far and wide Waiting for the moment When we're standing side by side. And I'm not alone in searching For I know this much is true, That if we're really soulmates He'll be searching for me too. He will never leave me And stand firmly by my side, He could see my very soul, By looking in my eyes. For dreams are what you make them, And even if it's just a wish I'm going to keep on waiting For my one true lover's kiss.

Someone Else's Shoes

You nod sympathetically, smile when I'm praised and laugh whenever I do. Don't pretend to know what I feel. You DON'T know, you couldn't possibly. You're not me. The secrets of my heart are my own, and you have no right to interfere. Instead of walking around in my shoes, why not try somebody else's? How about your own.

The Price We Pay

She thought she was driving sober one night, On a small, deserted road. Nothing in life ever seemed to go right, Or so she had been told. Her baby was anxious to be born, It never did anything wrong. That's why it seems so unfair. That now they're both dead and gone. One beer too many, Is what ended his life. Leaving behind, A grieving family and wife. “One more beer won’t kill me.” He had thought with a laugh, Shoving the bottle into his hands. He chose his own path. No one knows the consequences, Before they drink and drive. Or if they do, they choose to ignore, All of the warning signs. When they get behind the wheel, No worries or cares anymore. During those briefiest moments, Their lives the grim reaper stole.

Living

A kind old lady wiped away a stray tear, Staring down at her husband beside her. She never thought it would happen this fast, But everyone dies sooner or later.

The doctor walked into the waiting room, An unreadable look in his eyes. "It's a boy," he informed the assembled group "But I'm sorry to say his mom died."

When a speeding bullet found its mark, A young boy lay dead on the ground. No one knew the reason he died, His family just gathered around.

The boy looked at his father, tears in his eyes "Why does everyone around us always have to die?"

The father looked sadly at his son and took a long deep breath "Think of the things that are worth living for Life is not all about death."

Refuse to obey

I watched him from far away Standing under a lighted corner. He stood there suspiciously watching me But I gave him the cold shoulder. His badge shines brightly, off the light It filters from above He thinks he is so special Because he wears his coat and gloves. What gives him the right, To look at me that way? Is not a man, a man? I refuse to obey. Well, I say, cops they're just like us, People through and through. When they yield power over us It's really nothing new. What gives someone the special right To hail above the rest? This world is too small to live a white lie In my opinion they're pests What gives him the right, To look at me that way? Is not a man, a man? I refuse to obey. There would be no people left to defend Without them here or there This world would be run with guns, and drugs And no one would even care. Who would defend the weak Or the wronged? The people who are mugged, raped or killed By the strong? I think it gives him the right, To look at me that way They are there to fight for us Perhaps we should obey.

Learning

With a cry, the bird fell down Landing on the ground below Its mother gently nudged it, But, it didn't want to go Fear makes us afraid Of things we don't do well But, if we always give up Then, we'll always fail You have to learn to crawl Before you learn to walk Only when you've heard the words Can you finally learn to talk If ever you fall down Get up and try again Fixing your mistakes Is the only way you win Take it one day at a time There is no need to rush Nothing's ever out of reach If you believe in it strongly enough
