Spudgun R & D Lab

All of these guns use the same ignition system which is described in greater detail toward the end of this page. Feel free to make any modifications to any of these guns, for more info on spudgun modifications check out THIS PAGE

The Original

The First and Simplest Spudgun Proto-simple: Even the mentally handicaped should have no trouble constructing this device. Author's note: This spud gun has decent range, but no handle and if far from impressive. This gun has no place in my collection. Could be tripod mounted though, then it would be *somewhat* cool.
Q Part
1 3' of 1.5" PVC
1 1' of 3" PVC
2 3" - 1.5" reducer
1 3" threaded female thingy (piece on the far left, has the plug screwed into it)
1 3" threaded cleanout plug
Instructions
1. Any damn fool can assemble this gun. Look at the picture. Purple prime everything to be glued.
2. Glue one of the reducers to each end of the 1.5" barrel (the reducer on the tip of the barrel is optional, just there to
     add effect).
3. Glue the 3" chamber section into the reducer.
4. Glue the 3" threaded female thingy to the other end of the chamber.
5. Insert electrode screws (section on electrode placement help is located at the end of this page).
6. Congrats. You have a most unimpressive spudgun (but functional).

This gun is extreamly easy to build. If you've never handled PVC or pipe glue in your life other then to inhale it, this is
a good, low cost place for you to start. If you mess up, it's uncomplicated enough to start all over and only be out about
$10.

Handheld Spudinator

Basic Handheld,Kicks Arse Beginner: Simple gun, but easier to use and hold then the original. Personal favorite.
Q Part
1 2', 5", and 1" sections of 1.5" PVC
1 10" of 3" PVC
1 3" - 1.5" reducer
1 1.5" x 1.5" x 1.5" 45 degree T-Joint
1 1.5" endcap
1 3" threaded female adaptor thingy
1 3" threaded cleanout plug
Instructions
1. Purple prime everything you expect glue to be on.
2. Glue the 2' section of 1.5" PVC into the end end as shown, the side the 45 degree opening bends AWAY from.
3. Glue the handle piece into the 45 degree opening and then the endcap to seal off the handle section.
4. Glue the 1" piece of PVC into the remaining open end of the T-Joint piece and then glue the reducer onto that.
5. Glue the 10" section of 3" chamber PVC into the free end of the reducer.
6. Glue the threaded female adapter thingy onto the other end of the 3" chamber piece.

This spud gun is also somewhat cheap to construct compared to some of the more advanced models. Feel free to make
and modifications to the design that strike you fancy. Make sure all parts are schedule 40 PVC or greater or you will
die. This one of my favorite guns, it doesn't have quite as much power as the Spudzooka or the range of the Original,
but it is easy to hold on to and is very portable. It can still launch a spud 400 yards.

Spudzilla

The Ultimate Handheld Spudgun Advanced: Do not attempt this design if you have never built a spud gun.

All parts must be schedule 40 PVC or greater
Q Part
1 3', 5" of 2" PVC (seperate parts a 3' and a 5")
1 1" of 2" PVC
1 1' of 3" PVC
2 3"-2" reducers
1 3" threaded cleanout screw thingy
1 3" threaded female adaptor thingy
1 4" x 4" x 2" 45 degree T-Joint
1 2" endcap
1 1.5' of 4" PVC
1 about 4' of 4" PVC (have extra, buy 5' section)
Instructions
1. Purple prime everything to be glued.
2. Glue one of the reducers to each end of the 2" barrel section.
3. Glue the 3" PVC section to one of the reducers.
4. Glue the threaded female screw thingy onto the open end of the 3" section.
5. Glue about 1.5 feet of the 4" PVC into the rear end of the T-joint "handle".
6. Slide the chamber/barrel section through the handle and 4" PVC so the end of the threaded female thingy is aligned
with the end of the 4" PVC and glue it in place.
7. Slide the remaining 4" PVC over the barrel. There should be enough to cover the entire barrel and should fit snug
over the reducer. Glue it in place and cut off any extra 4" PVC that is past the reducer. If you have any trouble, refer
     to the diagram.
8. Glue the 5" section of 2" PVC into the 45 degree opening in the T-Joint for the handle. Glue 2" endcap on other opening.
Modifications can be made to the handle depending on what T-Joints are available in your area.
9. Screw in your electrodes wherever you find works best. I usually make them about 90 degrees apart so they are at
a right angle inside the center of the chamber. Wire this contrapulation to your ignitor and there you have it.
     Spudzilla.

Extra Credit
If you want more power out of this bad boy, increase the barrel to chamber ratio. If you don't understand what the means
you are stupid. Just make the chamber bigger. More chamber = more oxygen = bigger, faster explosion. DO NOT over
do it if you value the right side of your face. Make the barrel longer to increase range.

If you followed the directions carefully, you should have something that looks about the same as the picture. Now find a
lonely country road with plenty of things to destroy. Test it carefully and don't kill yourself. Start with low amounts of
propellant and work your way up to a comfortable level. Use your own discretion. I am not responsible for anything you
destroy, including yourself. This gun is safe if used wisely. Eh-mail me and let me know how well yours works and what
you destroyed with it.
