- In 8th grade (97-98, the peak of my obsession), I gave my history teacher daily updates on the BSB.
- I borrowed my friend's tape of Edward Scissorhands to watch Nick's 2 second appearance.
- I watched Cop and a Half not once but TWICE to look for Howie. (I still haven't found him. HELP!! If you know where he is, e-mail me!)
- On the day of Brian's surgery I wore all blue. My science teacher came into my algebra class and started talking to the teacher. He was like "Poor Kathleen, her boyfriend's having surgery today." LOL, don't I wish?
- Whenever one of the boys has a birthday, I watch either the All Access video or my tape of BSB appearances.
- Everyone in my old town knows I'm obsessed with the Backstreet Boys.
- I have been credited as the one who started "Backstreet Mania" in my old town.
- I actually watched the All Access *N Sync thingy on MTV even tho I hate *N Sync (Sorry to all their fans. They have good songs and all, but why *N Sync when there's BSB?) because someone wrote "BSB 4-ever" on those girls' *N Sync Mobile.
- I taught my little brother to sing "Get Down (You're the One For Me)" and "If You Want It to Be Good Girl (Get Yourself a Bad Boy)." He's a BSB fan now. (I'm bettering the youth of America!! LOL)
- For my finals last year (June 98) I had to know stuff about the Munich peace conference. The problem was, I couldn't remember where Munich was! But before the final, I was listening to a BSB interview. They were talking about where they got their first gold record. Yup, it was in Munich, Germany ! Ever since then, I've remembered!
- For Nick's birthday on June 28, 1998, I tried to convince my orchestra teacher to have a party in honor of Nick. She didn't buy it but she did let me play "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)" since it was his fave BSB song (at the time).
- Everyday in orchestra in 8th grade (97-98) I had BSB pix up on my music stand.
- I have been a BSB fan since "Quit Playing Games" first came out. I was at home listening to Z100 (a radio station in NY) while they broadcasted the BSB live at Virgin Megastore kicking off the release of their first American album in August of 97. I saw them the first time they were on Regis and Kathie Lee (Aug. 97, they were talking about how Nick was a foot shorter than the other guys when they first started!) I saw them when they were on the Rupaul show on VH1 (I believe they were wearing orange suits. And they sang "Anywhere For Ru.") I saw them at the Disney Christmas parade in December of 97 (singing "As Long As You Love Me and "Christmastime." I saw them the first time they were on Jay Leno (January 9, 1998). And....well, you get the idea...
- Once for English class in 8th grade, we were learning about similes and metaphors and stuff like that. For homework we had to give examples of each one. So I used some BSB lyrics as examples.
- In reading class in 8th grade (notice most of these things happened in 8th grade?) we had to research about a certain time period prior to 1980 and write a story set in that time period. My story was set during the Salem witchcraft trials. And one of my characters was Catherine (a thin cover for me) who fell in love with Nickolas Carter. And Catherine's brother eventually takes the alias Brian Littrell...Iz kinda confusing trying to explain it. E-mail me if ya actually wanna read it. I got a 99 on it! (One point off cuz I didn't put the heading right. That @&^!#@$*...j/k)We hadta read it out loud and in the beginning Catherine's sister Abby is in love with Nickolas and says "I'd walk halfway around the world for just one kiss from him". My friends just about died laughing.
- Ok, this next confession is famous at our middle school (BMS). It is.... the BOOK COVER!! Our history book was huge in 8th grade. I mean, it was just the heaviest and biggest book I had thus far. So I started writing BSB lyrics on it. It eventually became totally covered. Now it has lyrics from every song in the BSB's 1st American album and the 2nd Asian album, BSB sayings (i.e. Keep the Backstreet Pride Alive), important dates, and quotes from the boys. It's a work of art!! If I ever get access to a scanner, I'll put pictures of it up.
- I counted down until Millennium came out for about 75 days I think. I started verbalizing it about 2 weeks before it came out. By May 18, I was so damn excited it wasn't even funny. I counted down the minutes til I could go home and listen to the CD. (I had my parents go get it for me as soon as the store opened). I must have annoyed my friends so much!! (Thanx for not slapping me! =])
- I first bought the 1st American CD around Nov. '97. It only had 11 tracks ("Everybody (Backstreet's Back) wasn't on it). Then I heard that the boys rereleased the CD with "Everybody" on it. So yes, yours truly, bought the CD again just because it had an extra track (which I already had from the second Asian album thank you very much).
- Here's a list of all the BSB CD's I have: 2 of the 1st American CD, Millennium, Backstreet's Back (the European version), Backstreet Boys (Asian version), Backstreet's Back (Asian version), the "Quit Playing Games" single, and the "Everybody" single. Hopefully, next summer I can go to Thailand or my aunts will come here and I'll get more.
- I once woke up at 6AM (willingly) on a Saturday morning to listen to the BSB on KTU (a NY radio station).
- My 8th grade history teacher (the one I gave daily BSB updates to) gave me the react issue that had the BSB on the front cover. (Who said being obsessed had no perks? =])
- Before Millennium came out, I already heard "Larger than Life", "I Want I That Way (obviously)", "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely", "I Need You Tonight", "Don't Wanna Lose You Now", "The One", "The Perfect Fan", and a 30 second clip of "Don't Want You Back." (I listen to the radio and go on the Internet WAY too much..)
- This is my 4th BSB website (the others are no longer up). The BSB are the only band/group that has compelled me to make a web site and learn HTML.
- I once started a BSB sing-a-long on the bus during a field trip.
- I tape all their radio interviews (I don't have that Z100 one from Aug. 97 tho. I didn't have any blank tapes!! I remember just sitting there in front of the radio, eating my lunch, and refusing to leave until the broadcast was over. LOL)
- After I heard "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" on the radio (and taped it of course), I proceeded to listen to it at least 30 times in a row.
- I watched Wild America on HBO just because Leighanne (Brian's g/f) was in it. *Groovy* (LOL Jennie)
- I was jumping and screaming when "I Want It That Way" first played on the radio. I taped it two times from two different radio stations (I hadta see which station had better reception!!). I listened to the tape so much I memorized all the words in two days and eventually wore the tape out.
- I go online and download Backstreet Boys songs that weren't released in America. So I've probably heard almost every song the Backstreet Boys have ever recorded. (i.e. "I'll Never Find Someone Like You", "By My Side", "Where Can We Go From Here", etc.)
- I was mad that the Backstreet Boys left "Who Do You Love" and "Treat Me Right" off Millennium, and changed "Heaven In Your Eyes" to "I Need You Tonight." Yea, iz still a good song but "Heaven In Your Eyes" was better!)
- When Jennie and practically everyone else in my town went to the BSB concert on August 29, 1998, I was at home hysterically crying. I hadta take down my posters and I couldn't listen to the CD b/c I'd start crying even more. You'd think I'd get concert tix by now but no...
- Once my frend Damini and I were riding our bikes around the neighborhood. Then we like decided to take a break and were sitting on the steps in front of my house and we just started sing "I'll Never Break Your Heart" all loud and off-key. The whole neighborhood must've heard us!
- Well on the Friday before Halloween (10/29/98) we got Battle of the Classes points if we wore a constume to school. So I went as, you guessed it, an obsessed BSB fan. I wore this huge ass BSB shirt that was like a nightgown on me, I wrote their names on my face, and I wrote KTBPA on my nails in white-out. And when I got there, this girl in my algebra class was an obsessed *N Sync fan. Grrr....
- One day my family and I were out looking for costumes for my two little brothers (Mark, 7 and Brian, 9). I was trying to convince them to get 3 of their friends and they could all be BSB but they didn't buy it. Mark and Brian are walking around the store and they can't find something they want. So I ask Brian if he wants to be AJ and at first he was like "hell no, I'm not bein AJ". But after about a half hour, I finally convinced Brian to be AJ. It was sooo cute. I sprayed his hair blue, had him wear baggy clothes, and I found the coolest pair of sunglasses. He absolutely refused to wear jewelry but he still looked great. I think he looked pretty good considering he's Asian, 9, and doesn't look a thing like AJ! And I'm working on making Mark Howie next year. Stay tuned...
- I just found an old tape of the Big Help in 97. I taped the whole thing just so I wouldn't miss the Backstreet Boys. (They sang "Quit Playing Games" and "Lean on Me").
- Once I was talking to this person I know in FL (summer of 98) on the phone and he mentioned that his favorite radio station doesn't play Backstreet Boys. (Can you believe a FLORIDA radio station that doesn't play BSB? That's like a sin!) So he put me on three-way with the radio station and I pretty much yelled at them. The lady was like, "Oh, iz not b/c the DJ's don't want to play them or anything. We tested their songs and the only one that tested well was "Quit Playing Games." Yea, didn't test well my ass...
- Once we, along with a couple other friends, were at the mall. We went to Record Town and took pix of us in front of the BSB display. We all have these huge grins on our faces! LOL (Imagine how we'd look if we actually got to meet them in person!)
- We were in Builder's Club in 8th grade. It's a community service organization. One day we were making blue ribbons for some charity or whatever. So we took some blue ribbons and wore one on our bookbags the whole month of May in honor of Brian's heart surgery. (Don't worry, we told the teacher in charge. She thought it was funny.)
- For our 8th grade field trip we went to see Wizard of Oz on Broadway in NYC. Either on the way there or the way back, we passed by Radio City Music Hall. The BSB were gonna have a concert there that summer (July 17, 1998) so there was this huge pic of them in the front. We got so excited that the bus driver got on his microphone thingy and told us to "settle down". hehe...
- Once we, and another friend, went to the mall. As we were walking to the mall, Kat noticed this new store called The Icing . So she said, let's go look at that store. And the second we walked in, the "As Long As You Love Me" video came on these two TV's in the store. It was fate!! We felt kinda bad tho, cuz we were just standing there watching and we didn't end up buying anything....oh well.
