£7.69 - enormous tatty ensuite double room, hot water. Watch out for toiletries extra charges but otherwise OK for the price (2 nights).

£4.18 - My usual place full at 3am. sister hotel around the corner. Cramped. Dingy as usual. Fan. Avoid. (1 night)

£4.48 - Standard seems to have dropped since it got in LP book but still ok. Double room. Hot shower. Fan. (Sat TV not working). Backstreet close to Koh Sahn Rd (8 nights)

Bangkok
Amari Boulevard Hotel - Sukhumvit Rd
£0 - Deluxe hotel room with everything you'd ever need in Bangkok. Friend got it free for 4 nights and why not? (4 nights)

Overnight VIP Bus from Bangkok to Krabi
£0 (1 night). surprisingly cheap and comfortable ride with recliner seats

Ko Lanta Island
Palm Beach Resort -off main rd south of ferry port
£1.45 - ensuite, fan, fridge bungelow room, patio with view of beach. Good value and quiet (2 nights). Recommended.

Railay Beach (near Krabi)
Railay Bay Resort - on beach at end of rsorts
£2.17- Comfortable, en suite, fan bungelow room, with swimming pool by beach. Really cheap deal with no tourists. Spectacular Beach. Good food at restaurant. Recommended. (3 nights)

Ao Nang Beach (near Krabi)
Palm Beach House - just behind, centrally, the seaside main rd in town
£1.66 Comfortable, en suite, fan room, with movie channel TV. Nice quiet seaside town. Rent mopeds cheaply from hotel. Recommended. (3 nights)

Bangkok
Bella Bella Inn (near Sawadee Krungthep Inn - Phaathi Rd
£3.18 - small en suite room with fan. Cheap and cheerful. Clean (2 nights)

Overnight VIP Bus from Bangkok to Butterworth, Malaysia on visa run
