Where in the World is Bob Jack?
South America
(March 2013)
Introduction
I had been putting the South American continent off because I originally intended to do it as a future major trip over a few months. But impatience got the better of me especially with return flights to Rio de Janeiro from around £465 return. The only time I had been to South America was in 1993 to Venezuela. I was not sure what to expect and treated this visit as a ‘recce’ trip to check out a few countries. I had researched Brazil, but decided that since Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay were ‘nearby’ it would be possible to plan a circular route in the 16 days we had excluding fights. I thought I’d be doing it on my own, but my good mate Trev (he of the Mongolian and Central Asian road trips) said he fancied a break and agreed to accompany me.
