Promises

God
who is, was and will be,
in love created the heavens and earth, the plants
and all that breathe;
and man – the crown of His creation.
God
who is, was and will be,
in love promised that man would rule the world
in harmony with God.
Man knew God
But chose death.
With that choice the harmony passed
and the world was lost.
God
who is, was and will be,
in anger sent flood to cleanse the earth
of the sin which separated man from God.
God
who is, was and will be,
in love promised to withhold His wrath in the days to come.
He painted the rainbow that He might remember.
Man knew God
but followed death.
On that path there was war and hatred
and the world moaned.
God
who is, was and will be
in pain spilled blood to cleanse the hearts
of His children that they might be close again.
God
who is, was and will be,
in love promised eternal life for all who live in
the life of His Son.
The cross stands to show the world His victory.
Man knew God
but lives in death
ignoring the promise of eternal life
and the world cries.
God,
who is, was and will be,
in mercy sent fire to fill the hearts
of His children that they might live the life.
God
who is, was and will be,
in love promised the Comforter, the Spirit
to guide his children
to live in harmony with His Son
to gain the Victory.
