I have never met a man who has given me as much trouble as myself

Man suffers more on account of himself than others. His own passions, such as greed, jealousy, price and anger, cause him much greater pain than any amount of external shocks and disappointments. His ego is the source of his great troubles. It is this ego that makes him restless, doing all sorts of things to enhance his fame, prosperity and respectability. Nobody is content with his present possessions. "We all look before and after, and pine for what is not". This urge for unattainable does note allow us even a moment's rest. It makes of our life a perpetual struggle from the cradle to the grave. There are several mental conflicts to encounter, might toils to undergo, and acute miseries and misfortunes to endure. All these sufferings, that exhaust our nerves and deprive us of our peace of mind are the outcome of our own ambitions and aspirations.
