OTHER GOLD PROJECTS
The Bhiza EPL is 100 square kilometres in extent and was briefly
explored in December 2001 and subsequently in February to May 2005. This exclusive prospecting licence area is about 100 km downstrike of the better known
Asmara Goldfield where the
colonial gold mines Medrizien, Hara Hot, Adi Schumagelle, Adi Rassi,
Adi Nefas and Debarwa are situated. Bhiza is located within
a distinctly separate structural domain from the company's other properties to the east but in the same
domain as the Asmara gold and copper deposits. Mapping has revealed a sheared quartz porphyry mega-dyke which occupies
a shear zone up to 500 metres wide, and intersects andesitic metavolcanic rocks, talc schist and gabbro. A
number of strong (100-600 ppb) gold in sediment geochemical anomalies have been discovered, and
gold panning sites are numerous in the area. In February to May 2005 further stream sediment sampling was done, revealing a number of new gold sediment anomalies and one suspected primary gold site.
The Adi Seraw EPL is 15 square kilometres in area and is dominated by acid
metavolcanics. Stream sediment sampling and mapping were carried out in October 2001 without spectacular results, indicating the northern limit of the gold field.
New gold exploration projects are being devised to follow up regional gold prospecting discoveries.
